Now that last my clients are home from Lapland safe and sound having had an amazing time meeting Santa and seeing the Northern Lights I can end the year with an announcement that has been a long time coming and really difficult to make...

With sadness I have decided to close Gemma the Travel Fairy Godmother for at least the next year while I focus on my health - recovering from my last operation, preparing my body for and getting through my next operation.

I thank everyone who has supported my business not only in 2022 but also in the prior 3 years as well - whether as a customer or as someone who has supported my page or group.

This isn't goodbye forever... just for now.

One of the things that made me fall in love with travel, especially family travel, is it helps us to learn about other cultures and teach our children about different religions to our own!

This will make the next generation be more understanding and aware of others beliefs so that they can grow up in a more open and caring world. 💖

I've not yet commented on the passing on our beloved Monarch.
Mostly because as a staunch royalist and a loyal Girl Guide, with Her Majesty as our Loyal Patron whom we promise to serve, I have been heartbroken by the news and not wanted to believe that she was truly gone.

But today as her State Funeral gives us the opportunity to grieve and celebrate her Majesty's remarkable life and 'happy and glorious' reign over us I wanted to express my deep gratitude for her service and sense of duty to us all.

The inspiration she has provided me in my lifetime - to help others whenever I can, to hold close to my heart a sense of duty to my community and to those I love, to serve to the best of my ability however I am able - has shaped who I am as a person in so many ways.

I have been amazed since her passing of the reaction of many of my loved ones. They have never really expressed that many positive comments about Her Majesty or the monarchy as a whole but since her passing have said how much they loved her and respected the job that she did for us, which hasn't been easy at many points over the years.

I think we should use this period of national mourning to teach us a few lessons in life...
🥰 Don't wait for someone to be gone to tell them you love and respect them.
🥰 Don't hide your feelings about people you respect from the rest of the world.
🥰 Be proud of your feelings and let love guide you through life.
🥰 Serve your community with the sense of duty that Her Majesty has demonstrated and we can all make the world a nicer place
🥰 Be more Queen Elizabeth II

Thank you your Majesty for everything you have done and everything you have taught us.

Rest in Peace with your beloved husband. Your duty is finally done.

As I'm recovering from my recent op I'm starting to feel much more like myself again, so I thought it would be a good idea to reintroduce myself to all of you as I head back to work!

I'm Gemma, also known as The Travel Fairy Godmother ✨️🪄✈️ and I specialise in helping busy parents find their family's perfect holiday whilst taking away all the mental load and time drain of searching for the best deals.

I'm a total Disney fanatic 🤩 and have joined my love of all things Disney with my love of travel by training with the team at Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris and Disney Cruise lines so that I am now a specialist in all things Disney Travel! 🥰🐭🏰 It's my dream job!

Outside of my business I'm married to my high school sweetheart and mum to one incredible 9-year-old boy. He loves minecraft, pokemon and ballroom dancing 🕺 So as you can imagine we're pretty excited for the new series of Strictly to begin, it's his dream to be on the show as a dancer one day!

Happy Anniversary to my gorgeous Hubster, !

6 years ago today this was the first song we walked back down the aisle to as Husband and Wife. We had kept this song as a surprise from all our wedding guests and seeing all of their faces light up and their smiles when they heard it start playing was priceless.

The words of the song and the sentiment behind it sum up our relationship perfectly because in our marriage our friendship is such a huge part of our love, it's how we started (back when we were 14 and 15!) and it's how we continue to build.

Thanks Hubster for always laughing with me - even when I tell you your not funny - and for taking such good care of me and our boy.

The day I joined and as an independent travel agent and rep I met the amazing Louise Gatland and I was so inspired by her.

Louise has turned her life around with this business - from being made redundant from a minimum wage that didn't appreciate the years of dedication she'd put in to their business she chose to bet on herself and apply that same dedication into herself and her team and now 5 years later she is one of the top earners in our company in Europe!

More than that she is an incredibly supportive and caring coach and mentor ❤️ I honestly don't know where I would be without her. She saw the potential in me, even when I sometimes struggled to see it in myself and now my business is growing and getting stronger by the day.

Today's coaching call left me buzzing and has had me riding high and so productive all day.

I'm so excited about where my business is going with Louise by my side.

Wow is it me or is it hot?!?
Sorry to be so terribly British and talk about the weather but 'Oh my goodness' I've been melting while I've been working and having fun with William today! And I've also ended up drinking enough water to sink a battleship...
which got me thinking about HYDRATION and how important it is when you travel!

When I've been talking to friends, family and customers who have recently travelled on long distance flights and complained of extreme jet lag or headaches.

This makes perfect sense when you know that your body actually loses more water on a plane than it does on the ground so it is really important to think about your and your children's hydration in advance of your flight.

You should be drinking around a quarter of a litre of water per hour while you are in the air (on average) and although the cabin crew will offer you small glasses of water, you can also take a water bottle on board with you (If you take it through security empty obviously!)

So that it my top travel tip this Tuesday evening - remember that HYDRATION is KEY!!!

There comes a day when you're going to look around and realise happiness is where you are - Chief Tui, Moana

As our school holidays got into full swing this weekend, and yesterday in particular, I looked around and realised I am so happy and grateful to be able to spend this time at home with William and set my working hours and workload.

Even when I was teaching I still had to work during the school holidays those long summers you get "off" as a teacher are great but you don't actually get them completely off you still need to plan for the next term, I still took William into my old school for a few days over the summer to sort out my classroom and change the displays.

Now I get to spend time with William and have fun and adventures every day without having to dedicate full days to working during his summer holidays!

That's a wrap on year 4!

William is officially done for SUMMER! I'm so grateful that I am going to be able to spend the next 7 and a half weeks with him making memories and having fun!
This is the freedom that working for myself from home gives us and I love it 😍

Now I share a lot of Disney quotes ✨️ I love them, they inspire me but none more than this one.

I remember watching Beauty and the Beast for the first time at 7 or 8 years old and hearing this lyric and feeling like "YES... FINALLY someone else who GETS me!!!" 🎤⬇️

Until that point I didn't realise how many other people wanted to travel and explore the world, I didn't realise that there was more than my sleepy corner of Leicestershire and occasional trips to the seaside and I had NEVER been abroad 🙃

Later that year when my parents took us to Majorca for the first time, 'a whole new world' (no wait that's a different movie 🎬 😉) opened up to me and my passion for travel ignited!
