The NICU ParentNetwork alongside key partners, has launched a Position Paper on the Continuous and Uninterrupted Family Presence in the NICU. This essential practice recognizes parents as primary caregivers and integral members of the care team from admission to discharge. As a lead writer and cochair of the l Advocacy & Policy Committee, I am so proud of this work and the positive impact it will have on NICU babies and families. It was such a pleasure to work with all of our writing partners- each contributing an important perspective in NICU care. Thank you- and :)

Please share with the NICU department heads, neonatologists, pediatricians, legislators and hospital policy makers in your circles, so that we can all do out part to recognize and embrace the importance of parental roles in neonatal care.

You can find it at
nicuparentnetwork.org/, under Resources.

Thank you.

It’s recommended for all babies that they do Tummy Time as soon as they are born, but can baby do Tummy Time in the NICU

05/11/2024

A recent publication explored the implementation of tummy time guidelines to support infant developmental outcomes in a primary health care rural setting. The authors found that increased provider awareness and implementation of tummy time clinical practice guidelines can benefit infant development in primary care, especially in rural populations. This is a great reminder of the importance of discussing tummy time with parents prior to discharge from the hospital.

💜 Every family deserves to feel informed, supported, and empowered to give their baby the best possible start in life. But for many, finding reliable sources in their own language in the vast sea of information out there can be a challenge.

That’s why we’re creating Neopedia – a global platform developed alongside parent organisations worldwide to support families of preterm or sick babies with accessible, multilingual information.

🌍 At launch, Neopedia will offer information in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. More languages to come!

On Neopedia, you will find:

✅ Multilingual support
✅ Expert-backed information
✅ Advice from the parent community
✅ Links to national support and resources

Whether you’re in the NICU or navigating life afterwards, Neopedia will be there to offer guidance, reassurance, and a sense of community.

💫 Join us on this journey! Sign up here to stay updated on the launch in Spring 2025: 👉 bit.ly/neopedia

Here I Am

After awhile, I began to see things differently. I started out in my work feeling as if I could change the world. And then one day, I got up and everything looked different. I was able to see more clearly. What is it that I am meant to do with this life? Families are the heart of our humanity. It is the love and care for our children and our parents that makes us human. I have shaped my life around this. I am happy to offer this up to the world in a tiny book. I am happy to give my care to families in need. Thank you for supporting me in these efforts.
