Sometimes Therapy Is Awkward by Nicole Arzt
Great book for a new therapist. It's human and real. It addresses life as a psychotherapist.
In this section of the book, she is referring to financial health. Many go into this profession to help their community but soon realize that working in community mental health often (not always) means large caseloads and low pay, so then we enter into an internal conflict between I want to help my community, but I also want to live a good life and not live paycheck to paycheck and barely make ends meet! So what do you do?
So yes definitely not fair, but that's the reality.
This concept can be applied to many other parts of our lives.
Because indeed, life is sometimes not so fair, but when we face its reality, it's easier to move forward, to heal, to balance the emotions, and enter a stage of peace.
Remember to BE KIND to therapists and MIND YO’ OWN BUSINESS; let them choose their career path without shame or guilt.
