Italian fashion brand Prada is driving social media reactions for selling a safety pin for $775 or around 219,000 PKR. Made of brass, the colorful crochet-wrapped "Crochet Safety Pin Brooch" comes with a small Prada logo and has garnered widespread attention.

Many people on social media mocked the price, noting that similar crochet items were traditionally handmade at home. Critics say this is a reflection of a lack of imagination at the high end, and the product is more absurd than it is innovative.

Yet Prada is still promoting the bag as a luxury necessity, in reflection of the burgeoning designer trend for highly priced and often unlikely fashion accessories.
