With a strong connection to their African Roots and passion for self expression through unique clothing, Liberian born Michelle Togba-Davis and Liberian-American born Brandford Davis launched the A.D.D Ankara brand in October of 2015. A.D.D Ankara
is a fun, colorful, clothing line centered on inspiring individuals to gain a sense of cultural peace and connection to Africa's Roots; while dressed
confidently, proud, and beautiful. Meaning Behind Our Brand Name "ADDAnkara". After having our daughter Abiah Doreen Davis (A.D.D), Michelle & Brandford decided to create something unique that would support the lifelong cultivation of their African Roots into their household and daily lives. The name Ankara comes from the Traditional African Print produced in the Mother Land. Ankara is the word used to describe the bright fabric that is inspired by African fashion. For this reason Ankara style is not just found in clothes but also on bags, shoes, jewelry and accessories.
“With Each Garment, We Hope You Will Gain a Sense of Cultural Peace and Connection to our African Roots….”
Helping The African Economy
Due to the growing popularity of Ankara prints on the global fashion scene, the textile industry in certain areas of Africa is booming. This has dramatically impacted the West and East African economy. This is one of the main reasons why we support the purchase of authentic Ankara. Therefore all of our textiles are purchased directly from Western, Eastern, & Central Africa. This means a lot for countries that have struggled economically for many years. Ankara fabric manufacturing employs millions of African people. It also has created new opportunities for African designers to have their works featured throughout the world. We hope that Ankara enthusiasts will continue to support our emerging designs when purchasing A.D.D Ankara fashion items, so that, this renewed fashion trend can continue to have a positive impact on the African economy and sustain the cultural awareness of Africans in America and throughout the Diaspora.
