Why would you want to do that? Because when your friends/readers/customers look at the image later, the Ascot layer will show them them all of the cool stuff you tagged. Ascot is an image-tagging tool for tagging products in pictures. Tag brand name, item name, and even links to the items in the pictures. When people share that image, that information goes with it.

Our very own Val Karpov (aka The Code Barbarian) just did an awesome guest blog for 10gen (the MongoDB company) about the MEAN Stack that we used to build Ascot. MEAN stands for MongoDB, ExpressJS, AngularJS, and NodeJS, and in this post Val explains what makes it such a powerful development strategy, especially for hackathons.
