Hated by most, loved by few. Left goalies seething. Only one player really seemed to figure the almost perfectly spherical ball out - Diego Forlan. Five goals with it, joint top goal scorer, won goal of the tournament and the Golden Ball. Must’ve been practicing with his own prototype years before the tournament.

Scholesy there, training in a tent by the looks of things. Jumper so big we managed to fit it across two slides. Imagine trying to chest a ball wearing that, would get lost in the creases - still miles better than the training gear made today though.

Eric Daniel Pierre Cantona. There was a player that did the business and did it well. Most of the time.

We’re still scratching our heads over the speech he made when receiving that UEFA award. Maybe one day we’ll understand the meaning of the words ‘As flies to wanton boys are we to the gods they kill us for sport’

It’s always funny when you see the professionals sporting the badge, or not, if your Klopp or De Zerbi. Sort of seems like it should be reserved exclusively for slab heads shouting at the telly in the pub.

There’s a few instances of players and managers wearing it much better than the supporters, and there’s many occasions where they do it just as badly, or sometimes even worse. The former tend to be of Italian descent it seems.
