Stylish Backpack – Sewing Pattern and Instructions 🎒✨
📏 Bag Size
Height: Approximately 35 cm
Width: Approximately 28 cm
Depth: Approximately 12 cm
Adjustable flaps and pockets according to your needs.
🛒 Materials Needed
Main fabric: 50 cm thick cotton, canvas, faux leather or waterproof fabric
Lining: 50 cm light cotton or polyester
Padding (optional): Thin fleece or iron-on for better hold
Straps: 2 strips of 60 cm x 3 cm (imitation leather, woven strap or reinforced fabric)
Drawstring: 1.20 m (cotton, leather or nylon)
Metal buckle or ring: To attach the flap
Zipper: 25 cm for a front pocket (optional)
Matching thread, sturdy needles, clips or pins, sewing scissors.
✂️ Cutting of Parts
Body of the bag: Cut 2 pieces according to the pattern.
Front pocket: 1 piece depending on the desired size.
Flap: 1 piece in main fabric and 1 in lining.
Sides and bottom: 1 long strip to connect the front and back.
Straps: 2 strips of 60 cm x 3 cm, to be reinforced if necessary.
🧵 Sewing Instructions
Assemble the body of the bag
Sew the two main pieces together with the side and bottom strip to form the base of the bag.
Overcast the edges to prevent fraying.
Attach front pocket (if included)
Sew the zipper to the pocket opening.
Stitch the pocket on the front part of the bag.
Create the flap
Assemble the main fabric and the lining right sides together, sew leaving an opening.
Turn, iron and topstitch.
Prepare the straps and cord
Fold the strips in half, sew and turn over.
Secure the straps to the top of the bag with reinforcements.
Finalize the assembly
Attach the flap to the back of the bag.
Add a ring or button to close the flap.
Pass the cord through the guide and attach the end caps.
