The streets are alive this week in Hay as we celebrate our first Hay festival in our new shop at Hay Castle

After 3 years trading at the festival site I now have a proper bricks and mortar (but actually stone) shop in the most gorgeous setting overlooking the lovely castle green & the newly established makers yard’. Trading alongside my brilliant friend .jewellery at

It’s a week packed with inspiration & joy for me, with the added excitement of being part of my first talk on stage this evening - in conversation with and to discuss Kate’s wonderful book ‘Home Made’.

Looking forward to seeing all your lovely faces again, do pop in & say hello 👋

No idle hands here… I’ve just finished up making a small batch of new limited edition Turnastone scarves in all the patterns and plaids and stripes, yum.

Offering you all a very rare 10% discount code on all my accessories this weekend. The website’s been updated with so many new scarves, hats and headwraps..

use code: H4WTHORN

Not because I’m trying to keep up with bloody black friday 🤢 but because I’ve made a huge amount of things, and as lovely it is as it is surrounding myself with them- it’s probably best I send them off to some new homes while the weather is chilly!

Keep warm friends x

Today sees the launch of a very special book that we are very privileged to have been a part of.
The wonderful has brought to life ‘Home Made’ a beautiful recipe book that pays homage to an abundance of talented craftspeople and food producers alike.

Kate’s words are wonderful, food is excellent and ‘s pictures are divine, as always.
Lovely to be put alongside so many friends in this book too, in particular our local pals

The big launch is at this evening, we sadly can’t make it but have sent a few of our swift aprons in our stead (as seen on Kate on the front cover).

Thanks so much Kate, the book is soo wonderful- you did good ###

In a weeks time I’ll be opening my wagon doors for my first ever open studio. From the 7th to the 15th of September artists and creatives all over our beautiful county open their doors to the public as part of . It’s been a longtime aspiration of mine to take part in this wonderful event, and I’m honoured to be finally be involved.

It’s a cracking excuse to explore the county, and get first hand insight into the art, creations and workspaces of the many artists that take part.

I’ve converted the back of my horse box lorry into a shop especially for the occasion, we’ll be selling tea, nibbles and homemade cakes from the garden over the two weekends, and I’ll be on hand to take orders and commissions & talk non stop about aprons for the duration, open from 11am to 5pm come and say hello! 👋🌺

have some brilliant itineraries on their website if you’d like a bit of inspiration on where to start!

Find us through - location D2 & look out for road signs.

Thanks so much to for the gorgeous photos 📸

Simon, in the oilskin Forster Aprons.
If you’ve not been following us for long you may wonder who this distinguished looking fella is and why he features so much in these little squares. Fundamentally Field and Found is a handmade clothing business, but we’re also a family. When Simon’s not acting as my model or muse , he’s gardening, he’s building and he’s cheffing, he also is a brilliant dad to our two boys.
This is Si in our polytunnel, a wonderland of what I refer to as ‘science-gardening’ where his self built aquaponic grow system produces salads, veg and herbs year round. Si is passionate about homesteading and living off the land, he builds awesome tiny houses and cooks great food. Next year he’ll be running various courses as .wood where you can come and dip your toe into the world of aquaponics, tinyhouse building, firecooking & homesteading right here in our little pocket of Herefordshire. 🥦

Oilskin Sanford Aprons, and Simon demonstrating the joy of apple pressing/drinking.

I serendipitously came across a last remnant of our Nocturne Blue oilskin this week (see last photo) it’s just enough to make two Sanfords from - they’re the last in this deep navy shade, and are now listed on our website as made-to-order.

It’s been half term for us this week so our days of bundling family members into the car for wet walks and museum trips have been bookended with cosy home days of warm fires and home cooking, and ALL of the boardgames. It’s been lovely really, and the relentless rain has even given me the opportunity to sit and do a lot of hand stitching, which is one of my favourite parts of my job…

I’ve been working on a load of new headwrap colours, so I’ll be listing them in smalll batches later on today & I’ll probably shout about it in my stories so keep an eye out.

That’s me and Angus the cat, Myrtle the caravan, and Simon looking rather serious last week, laying the table for an autumnal outdoor dinner.

I had a delivery of linen on Monday, new fabric for circle scarfs in some really beautiful autumnal hues. Si and I both live in the Turnastone circle scarfs year round, but at this time of year they become staple uniform (I love this bit of the year) With the need for more layers comes the opportunity for adding and playing with colour, which is so easily done with scarfs and hats and socks and all of the other wonderful wintery accoutrements that make me warm and happy right now.

Heads up, we’re opening our order books up today at 5pm. So those of you that would like some of our dungarees- now your moment.

I recently made a pair of linen Rye dungarees in turmeric and some in the chilli too, both colours proved to be a great success last month so they’ll be available this month too, alongside our more seasonal corduroy offerings.

Also, a note of caution- we sold out if order slots in just 6 hours last month- so please if you’re keen get in there quick!

As a maker it fills me with pride to see people wearing my clothes. This is the abundantly inspirational wearing a Moss Irish Linen swift apron & field wrap for her new book ‘The Irish bakery’. The book is a collaboration between Cherie and talented photographer (who kindly sent me these stunning shots). You may have also spotted some of these shots in .

Sometimes folks chose to wear my creations to express and communicate their personal style. When this honour is paired with someone wearing an apron of mine whilst finding their own form of creative expression; my mission feels worthwhile, it’s job satisfaction at its very best.

Whether you’re a baker, a chef, a florist, a potter, an artist, a spoon maker, a truffle hunter or a washer upper-er 😉, knowing that my work is fulfilling its purpose whilst making people feel good, is exactly why I do this.

Thanks to everyone out there who continue to support, wear and share my work with the world- I appreciate every one of you, keep the photos coming- I love to see them!

Also huge thanks to Cherie and Andrew - the Irish Bakery book is available for pre-order now through

In celebration of last nights Harvest moon I thought I’d share a bit of this weeks harvest.

We went big this year, and doubled the size of one of our veg patches. In the excitement of it all we got somewhat overzealous with the planting of Squash and Patty Pan, so we have Loads- aren’t they amazing! The little yellow frilly spaceships aka scallop squash are at the top of my favourite veg list, and are now a daily part of all our soups and Salads, including Si’s tasty firecooked stuffed Patty Pan, which was heavenly!

On the clothing front I’ve listed the Forster apron Si’s wearing here as made-to-order on our website, and I made a small batch of the Cinnamon Turnastone Circle scarves yesterday.

Hope you all are having a splendid start to autumn. If anyone has any particularly awesome ideas for patty pan - I’m all ears 🥬🛸🔥
