My name is Melanie and I am the owner and founder of Selective folk. The humble beginnings of Selective Folk could be traced back to my upbringing in a home where the women of our house, my mother and grandmother, spent much time sewing and creating beautiful garments. I later studied to become a chartered accountant, and I am now currently in my final year of articles. Selective Folk started out as "lockdown project", but soon became so much more. I taught myself from scratch through podcast, youtube tutorials, books and by asking advice on every "Naaldwerk groepie" on Facebook. It since has sprouted and grown into a business that strives to live by the motto "for women, by women".
