Spectacular venue, great support, plenty of Button Wear robes walking around before the start of the Spring Equinox Swim in the Langebaan Lagoon.

Warm water, no wind, wetsuit and skins swimmers, 3 distances, Big Bay Events safety on the water.

Post swim, a came in handy as dressing in the open was required.

The rivalry between Fish Hoek and Clifton Lifesaving Clubs is part of the rich tradition and character of Cape lifesaving.

That competitive spirit was on display when Jayden Allott took the honours in the Fish Hoek Mile.

A bit of history:
Brian Button, a name woven into the history of Clifton Lifesaving Club was instrumental in helping establish Clifton Lifesaving Club and played an important role in building the foundations of the club and its lifesaving tradition.

Today, that legacy has come full circle in a rather special way. Button Wear was created as an ode to The Late Brian Button, swim coach to many, and now Clifton Lifesaving has Button Wear robe in the house!

Lifesaving more than just a sport, an age old tradition past down through the generations.

Fish Hoek Mile 2026 Fundraiser

What a swim! Over 300 swimmers took on the Fish Hoek Mile in classic Cape conditions — bumpy, windy, and warm water making for a challenging but memorable day in the bay.

(False Bay has decidedly warm water after a South Easter wind, where Atlantic Seaboard has ice cold water)

The elite group turned up the heat, racing hard all the way to the finish in an exciting dash for the line! 🔥

A massive thank you to everyone who swam, supported, volunteered, and helped make the Fish Hoek Lifesaving Club fundraiser such a success. 💙

Introducing "The Mo"

I just love a long sleeve after getting out of chilly water early morning with no sun around. The sleeves are roomy enough slip one's arms inside to remove a wet costume.

Quick-dry properties allows you to wear you multi colour, or should I say techi-colour dream coat, oops i mean robe, to the coffee shop.

The Cape Long Distance Swimming Association held their AGM and Awards Evening 2026 at RCYC last night.

A gathering of open water swimmers celebrating swim achievements, big and small.

Medals, certificates and Trophies were handed out by various presenters. And plenty of Lucky Draws, always a crowd pleasure.

Ryan Stramrood, an accomplishment opening water swimmer, went home with the CLDSA Trophy. This trophy is awarded to the most outstanding Robben Island swim of the year.

Well done Ryan, got you into a at last!

Med Extreme donated the Button Wear robe, alongside the trophy.
