13 Years Later – A Dream That Still Lives ❤️
Sometimes it is beautiful to look back and realise just how far you have come — and to see that the dream you once had never really disappeared.
While I was recently sharing some of my stories about making cot sets, Facebook brought up a memory from 13 years ago. There, among the memories, were some of the very first cot sets I made when I started my business for the first time.
I remember sharing on my personal profile how excited I was that a dream was becoming a reality — starting my own business. I shared my new page, Cute Little Baby’s Needs, with my Facebook friends. In that same post, I thanked my dear husband for all his support and contribution.
And thirteen years later, he is still right there beside me. ❤️
Every time I go to a market or exhibition, he gets up early with me, helps me pack everything, and transports it all to wherever I need to be — even when he would much rather have stayed in bed a little longer!
In that old post, I also mentioned my three beautiful daughters, who inspired me. And that has not changed either. They are still a huge source of inspiration for me today.
For a while, I stopped working on my dream. But looking back now, I realise that the dream itself never really went away.
My husband and I often talk about how I wish I had found a way back then to keep going, even when our circumstances changed, instead of putting the dream aside completely.
In 2015, we moved, and there were times when we didn't even have money for data. What makes me a little sad now is knowing that I already had a few customers who regularly ordered from me. The beginning of something special was already there — I just didn't realise how much it meant at the time.
Something else caught my attention when I read that old post.
I had written that I wanted to make things people could use in their homes.
Eventually, I focused more on baby items instead.
And today, I still want to make many different things. Baby and children's items will always be one of the first things on my list, but over the years, my creativity has grown in ways I never expected.
Thirteen years ago, I mainly made:
🧸 Cot sets
👶 Baby tracksuits
🍼 Receiving blankets
🧶 Crocheted blankets
💕 Other baby items
Today, I still make many of those things — but my creative journey has expanded.
Now I also make:
🧼 Handmade soap
🧣 Scarves, gloves and beanies for adults
🍰 Decorated cake forks and teaspoons
👜 Handbags and small fabric bags
🐶 And the newest addition to my shelves — dog jackets!
And then I realised something beautiful…
What I dreamed of making in the beginning is something I am doing today, alongside the things I started with.
The two worlds have finally become one. ❤️
Maybe the dream didn't fail.
Maybe it simply needed a little more time to find its way back to me.
Thirteen years later, I am still creating, learning, experimenting, trying new ideas and slowly but surely building the dream I once started.
And this time, I don't want to let it go. ❤️
Because dreams don't always follow the timeline we planned for them.
Sometimes life takes us on a completely different road.
Sometimes we have to pause.
Sometimes we have to start again.
But a dream that keeps finding its way back into your heart may be worth listening to.
Thirteen years later, my dream is still alive — and this time, I'm going to see where it takes me. ✨
