Lunar Queen is a female-owned company based in South Africa supplying a range of period products and kits for young women to confidently embrace their womanhood. The company was founded by two strong-willed and independent women who are also mothers to strong-willed daughters. While navigating the difficult conversations with their own daughters of puberty and other social expectations which they are facing from a very young age, they realised that perhaps it’s time to learn from their struggles and develop products that will empower their daughters to understand that their periods are natural and not something to shy away from. Even though as women we might feel like hiding indoors the whole day, the changes in our body are natural, should be embraced, and does not need to be feared.
Women young and old should know that their period days should be just like any other day. You should have the confidence to walk, swim, jog, have sleepovers, socialise, go to school or work without worrying about unexpected red stains on your outfit.
