Thaqafah was inspired by our travels around the Middle Eastern countries and their extensive knowledge and craftsmanship of handmade sandals and shoes. We fell in love with the Turkish slipper, Indian Mojari, Pakistani Khussa, Moroccan Babouche, and the Saudi Madas Sharqi to name a few. All of these shoes excluding the Madas Sharqi, have rich history and have cross cultural inspiration do to thes
e cultures mixing with one another over the centuries. From the Ottoman Empire to the Pyramids of Giza,as all nations who mix they share their traditions and culture with one another. And the artists from amongst them become inspired to create new styles incorporated with old. Being from the West, we decided to add a Western twist to these traditional shoe styles, in order to make them desirable to all people, from East to West. Thaqafah plans to revolutionize what is considered tradition, so as to encourage the current generation to wear traditional handmade footwear. This will allow them to experience comfort and tradition without compromising style and modernity. Thaqafah is modern. Thaqafah is the footwear of culture.
