Next Design Gown for Our City of San Fernando Beauty Pageant in the Philippines.
This gown features a striking mermaid silhouette characterized by its form-fitting bodice and dramatic flare. Below is a breakdown of the specific elements that define its cut:
The Bodice and Neckline
Deep V-Neckline: The gown features a plunging, sharp V-neckline that extends toward the mid-torso, creating an elongated and regal frame for the upper body.
Contoured Torso: The cut is precision-tailored through the waist and hips to emphasize a classic hourglass shape, using architectural beadwork to further enhance the curves.
The Skirt and Flare
Mermaid Flare: The transition begins mid-thigh, where the fabric erupts into a voluminous, structured "trumpet" or "mermaid" skirt.
Full-Length Hem: The skirt is cut to a floor-sweeping length, likely designed to trail slightly as a train, providing the necessary weight to balance the dramatic upper elements.
The Sleeves and Cape
Split Cape Sleeves: One of the most distinctive features is the floor-length cape attachment. It is cut to drape from the shoulders, creating a translucent "wing" effect that adds movement and a majestic "queen" aesthetic to the ensemble.
Sleeveless Base: Underneath the cape, the gown appears to be sleeveless or features narrow shoulder straps, allowing the heavy embroidery to remain the focal point.
