Talia Y Studio taliaYstudio is a product design studio experimenting on lights, technology and human interactions

taliaYstudio is a product design studio based in Vienna experimenting on high tech, lights, photography and human interactions. The studio is dedicated to finding out how beautiful things can have tangible benefits for people. With its network of experts in various disciplines, the studio offers design services to companies with emerging technologies who want to create value through design. The st

udio also enjoys working side-by-side with the bubbling local start-up scene which aspires to tackle tough social issues and use design to do just that. Last but not least, the studio likes to play and offers innovative wearable designs such as the JellySeries and more to come! The studio's work is collaborative as we understand that design alone cannot change the world: rather we enjoy working with experts from disparate fields in the soft and hard sciences, business and creative industries and the ultimate user groups to inform and enrich our projects. www.taliaystudio.com

was one of the studio´s favourite and most challenging projects of 2015.
The assignment was to come up with viable uses for the flexible OLED technology, fresh from labs, and build working prototypes. The dronOLED concept takes notes from the automotive industry, where wing lights are used not only as a signal but also to strongly distinguish between brands. In this way companies such as , who will soon launch delivery drones, could use OLED technology to support their brand in flight.
We were given a limited budget and 10 days to realise our glowing drone concept and construct a flying machine with wings laminated with flexible OLEDs. Figuring out the through many failed and broken flying iterations, we finally found a wing form that worked with the OLED shape and reduced the weight of the mechanics and electronics section by using a soft leather skirt cover the body.

After an exhilarating panel yesterday, we carry on today with an intense 2-day workshop on WorldBuilding : Migratory Narratives.

So proud to be part of this Berlin Talents event as a special guest. Thank you Alex McDowell and Juan DiazB for inviting me. I'm already overwhelmed by the guests on the stage and in the audience yesterday!

“...Refugee camps are the cities of tomorrow ... The average stay today in a camp is 17 years. That’s a generation. In the Middle East, we were building camps (as) storage facilities for people. But the refugees were building a city…”
