Honourable mention goes to Deputy Mayor Rowan Voogt for getting involved and having a couple pushes on a skateboard!! I would have filmed it - but I didn't want to make him nervous. 😂

A huge thanks to the organisers for putting on a wicked day! Awesome food, "door" prizes, skate coaching...and a 1yr Birthday CAKE!

Celebrating 1 year of the Battunga Youth program 🥳 A much needed outlet for our youth! What a cracker of a day....and we even got Mount Barker District Council Deputy Mayor Rowan Voogt on a board!!!

👌 Massive thanks to the event organisers including Reclink Australia and coaches Daniel Flavel and Kateryn Winston for making this day a memorable one. 🫶

I received acknowledgement today, that Mount Barker Council has added our Meadows Skate Park petition to their April Agenda.

I will be going to the meeting on April 7th to see what feedback may come from my Deputation at last month's meeting. 🙏🙏

I handed in our Meadows Skate Park petition to Mount Barker District Council today! 🥰
SIDE NOTE:
The Middleton Skate Park petition had 350 signatures when it was submitted to Alexandrina Council in 2024. In comparison to how widespread that district is.....we have done an amazing job!!!! 🙌👏👏👏👏

OUR REQUEST:

WILL MOUNT BARKER COUNCIL BE WILLING TO MATCH THE STATE GOVERNMENT'S
OFFER OF $250,000 FUNDING FOR A SKATE PARK IN MEADOWS?

As the head 'skate park' petitioner and advocate for my Meadows community, I am requesting for the Mount Barker District Council to consider including a skate park in the upcoming master plan / upgrades for Battunga Park.The Premier's funding commitment has timed in perfectly with the Council's draft action plan for Meadows, in which council has acknowledged that a district level skate facility could be included in the Battunga Park upgrade. As a community we are requesting for Mount Barker District Council to please match Labor's funding offer, if they are re-elected on March 21st,
2026.
We believe that Council now has the necessary backing to follow through with Action No. 22, in the draft 'Open Space Strategy' plans for Meadows. Action 22 in the Sports and Recreation schedule would see a skate park being added into the Masterplan for Battunga Park.

As the head petitioner, I am submitting this petition to show the strong community support that we have garnered from the Meadows community.

🏛️ 30 Minutes with the Candidates: Prospect Hill Forum

All community members are invited to our "Meet the Candidates" forum. With the State Election on 21 March, this is your chance to hear directly from those seeking to represent us.

When: Tuesday, 10 March @ 6:30pm - 7:00pm
Where: Prospect Hill Community Centre

Every candidate for the seat of Heysen (or their representative) will be in attendance to address our community.

They will be there to answer YOUR questions! Whether it’s road safety, emergency preparedness, or local services, please come and let them know what matters to YOU!!

I'm proud to announce that Labor has pledged to invest $250,000 in a skate park at Meadows if re-elected - which of course would be contingent on Mt Barker council agreeing to match the offer.

I quote:
"Deputy Premier Kyam Maher stated that the funding reflected the Government's commitment to "getting kids off screens and outdoors being active."
"We've followed through on the first part of the deal, so it's only fair on our kids that we follow through by delivering community projects that get them excited to leave the house and hang out with their mates" he said."
