Grateful to have facilitated the Australian Athletics Level 3 Trail and Ultra Coaching Course in Adelaide last weekend at Belair.

With 15 coaches travelling from SA, VIC, NSW and QLD, it was great to come together for only the second time this course has been delivered.

Across the weekend we covered programming, nutrition, hydration, skills, equipment, and safety and risk management, supported by practical sessions including a night run, poles session and skills session.

What stood out most was the openness in the room. Plenty of great questions, shared experience, and real collaboration.

For me, weekends like this are a reminder that coaching isn’t about having all the answers, but creating space for learning and growth. I left just as inspired as I hope the coaches did.

As coaches if we can help more athletes run with a smile on their face, I think we’re on the right track.
