When this banger 1980’s cut out cat 😻suit came in from the warehouse we wondered who would make it theirs. We firmly believe at Dulcie’s in the Cinderella theory - for every garment there is its rightful owner out there somewhere. Like the glass slipper we just need the person who is the right fit. Vintage galore!!

The Vinnies Morphett Vale volunteers have been hard at work this week, curating a retro/vintage display.

It all started over the weekend when vintage cooking scales were donated in their original box, and inside was a wedding card from the 1950s-60s.

We decided that these items - and even the card - were a bit special, and worth displaying.

This then sparked a nostalgic rabbit-hole of conversations between our vollies about their wedding days.

These beautiful memories included cooking with their mothers and many more loving family memories.

Seeing all the volunteers come together, sharing these special moments with each other, and with our customers joining in - is what volunteering is all about.

Just one of the joys of volunteering with Vinnies. 🥰

Amanda here. So I found these hats down on the Fluerieau peninsula (by the life of me I can’t find the card/details of the woman who made them ! 😩) but she hand spins the wool, she dyes the wool, knits the hats then felts them. I love love loved them and thought some of you might like them too. So I purchased the hats brand new then “donated” them to Dulcie’s . So they are in the Adelaide Arcade store right now for the same price I purchased them for! Not much of a smart business decision, I know … but I just wanted to bring some joy to people who are looking for a magnificent and warm winter hat ….

Amanda here. This is my latest knitting project - a Crows scarf for my dear friend Jack Davies. I’m a Richmond supporter so this isn’t the easiest thing for me to knit, although it’s a lovely pattern given to me by my knitting teacher Sue Rowland. 2 knit 2 purl then a knit at the end. It’s really lovely to knit . But I’d prefer it to be yellow and black… 🐯🐯🐯🐯

I’ll be knitting it tomorrow at Adelaide Arcade at our Knitterati event. If you have a knitting project or a crochet one and want to craft with others, come along to the Adelaide Arcade tomorrow at 12, just outside Dulcie’s . We’d love to see you.
