🚨 Important Update for SMSF Property Investors 🚨
On 23 June 2026, the Albanese Government reached an agreement with the Greens to secure support for its tax reform package in the Senate. Included in that agreement is a proposed amendment to ban new Limited Recourse Borrowing Arrangements (LRBAs) for residential property purchases within Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs).
If the legislation passes as expected, investors will no longer be able to use borrowed funds through an SMSF to purchase residential property under new arrangements.
For those considering residential property investment through their SMSF, this may represent a significant and potentially final opportunity before the rules change permanently. Stay informed and seek professional advice to understand how these changes could affect your investment strategy.
