Vintage Australian Timber Writing & Storage Cabinet – c.1940s

A wonderfully characterful piece of old Australian furniture with a great combination of practicality and patina.

Dating to around the 1930s–1950s, this substantial timber cabinet features five graduated drawers with original timber handles and a particularly useful pull-out writing/work surface.

The drawers are traditionally dovetailed and the cabinet has the sort of honest wear, marks and rich timber colouring that only come with decades of use. The pull-out surface is a fantastic feature and gives the piece plenty of possibilities — from home office or writing cabinet to workshop storage, artist's cabinet or simply an unusual piece of furniture with plenty of character.

It has been left with its original aged appearance rather than stripped and over-restored, retaining the knocks, marks and patina that tell its story.

A genuine old piece with loads of character and considerably more interesting than a modern reproduction.

French Vintage Fisherman's Seat & Tackle Box – c.1960s/70s

A wonderfully unusual piece of French fishing history.

Originally made as a practical fisherman's tackle box and portable seat, this beautifully constructed timber box combines clever storage with unmistakable vintage character. Featuring multiple compartments, original-style metal catches, a substantial canvas carrying strap and its distinctive orange vinyl seat, it is every bit as charming as it is practical.

The timber has developed a gorgeous aged patina from years of use, while the slightly weathered finish and original fittings give it the sort of character that simply can't be reproduced on a modern piece.

Perfect as a fishing tackle box, display piece, occasional seat, bedside storage, coastal décor or simply a wonderfully quirky conversation piece.

A genuine vintage French fishing item with plenty of life left in it — something old, something saved, something revived.

The Dusty Corner — where something new comes from something old.

Thanks, that's much clearer.

The serial plate reads:

Manufacturer: Earl

Model: F

Serial Number: 1693

Unfortunately, Earl production records are scarce, so the serial number can't be matched to an exact year as it can with Berkel or Hobart machines. However, based on the design, construction, and style of the identification plate, I'd estimate it dates from approximately the 1930s to 1950s, with the late 1930s to 1940s being the most likely period.

A few things that stand out:

The machine appears to be substantially complete.

The original painted finish has survived, which many collectors prefer over a repaint.

The castings don't appear cracked.

The blade looks straight and has been kept reasonably clean.

The carriage and thickness adjustment appear intact.

This all adds to its desirability.

**Rare Vintage Australian Heavy Metal Trolling Fishing Lure – 20cm – Estate Find**

An exceptional vintage solid metal trolling lure measuring approximately **20cm (8 inches)** in length. This is a substantial, heavy lure featuring its original worn yellow and red paint, large treble tail hook, and an unusual top-mounted single hook arrangement.

Based on its construction and design, this lure is believed to date from the **1940s–1960s** and is likely Australian-made. The solid cast body, simple wire hardware and hand-finished appearance suggest it may have been produced by a small regional tackle maker or experienced craftsman.
