M26A2 Fragmentation Hand Gr***de Crate. The M26 series of hand gr***des (famously shaped like a lemon) entered common use during the Vietnam War era to replace the older World War II-era MKII “pineapple" gr***de.

Original Capacity: Designed to bulk-transport 30 hand gr***des, which were individually packed into rolled cardboard F2/M289 cylinder containers inside the box.

Construction Details:
Heavy-duty olive drab painted pine wood.
Heavy rope carrying handles attached at both ends.
Center metal locking latch clasp at the front with a hinged lid layout.

Stencilling and Markings:
Top Lid: Distinctly stenciled in white paint with "UN 0292" (the international hazardous materials shipping code for explosive fragmentation gr***des) and "GREN FRAG M26A2".
Front Face: Outlines details including the count, model, explosive composition type (typically Comp B, a mix of RDX and TNT), and production lot numbers.
Safety Inspection Marks: Features an administrative paper/tape seal down the right-hand corner side labeled "INSP..." along with an official orange/yellow diamond status sticker declaring the crate safely "EMPTY" (Free from Explosives)
