I have covid and it is boring. So here is what the AI thinks of me. (Well, mostly they think I should be swanning around during the Renaissance or sprinkling fairy dust, but here are my top choices.)

It’s a grey and soggy day today, so have some perky colour inspo from last weekend at the Mid-Mountains Garden Festival. And bonus street sign with some advice.

My position as lovely assistant at involves a vast and varied array of tasks - and occasionally I even get to collaborate and make some rad things. Julie wanted to upholster some old stools for her upcoming gallery show, all about sustainability and upcycling and using what you have. So we decided to try tufting some stool tops, and I think they turned out pretty great. First few photos show my tufting work, then a few wider shots of the show. The last is gorgeous Meroogal House - the inspiration behind it all. And if you’re down the coast, go and see all of ’s beautiful show, Modest Fancies in the Parlour at until 27/8.

So, one thing I hate is learning something new. Well, I like learning and growing and doing different stuff, but I hate making mistakes, wasting resources, being bad at s**t. But I got all obsessed with tufting recently (apparently it’s even a new TikTok trend with the kids) and bought the gear and now I have to use it. So here are some moments in my day yesterday - putting some parts of the frame on backwards, ripping the fabric, having to rig up some kind of cobbled together workstation while I figure out what I need to get a real set up going. It’s the boring parts of making things, you know? It’s fun to see the finished product, which is what Instagram is all about really. But for every person doing beautiful work, many many hours have gone into them being new and crap. Or hours getting everything set up to even begin the creative part. And I’m pretty sure I ticked all the blood, sweat, and tears boxes yesterday. But by the end of the day, I was better, faster, more confident than I was at the start. I will share more cute tufting soon, but for now enjoy some ugly learning process. 🌈 🦊

So the other day, I went out searching for a little hope. A friend told me about an epic 20km bushwalk she had taken, looking for this amazing and rare flower, the Pink Flannel Flower. She only grows in certain parts of eastern Australia, where the terrain and altitude are just right. She only grows around a year after bushfire followed by rainfall. She is a tiny little fighter that flourishes when conditions are, to humans at least, pretty inhospitable. And thanks to my friend, I was able to find them without the massive hike - I’m lucky enough to live in such a wonderland that I could stop here on my way to get groceries. So here are some photos. Also some of the bushfire affected area where they grow, regenerating one year after the fires tore through. Insert your own metaphor: something about the small moments of hope in a world that can feel empty of it, the miracle of mother nature, the beauty that can be created after destruction. I don’t know. I felt the hope looking at them and hearing their story. I hope you do too.

Today we take a trip into an alternate world - because it seems we are truly living in the darkest timeline right now. In fact, I’m not sure how to even share this colourful nonsense with everything happening in the world right now. Feels so frivolous. So, I don’t know, let’s turn it into a bit of fiction.

It’s 2013. While the earth may look familiar, this parallel universe has been overrun with psychedelic muppet-human creatures, looking to party like its 1999. Bouncing around in platform shoes without a care in the world, these candy ravers just need a smokey warehouse, some glow sticks, and their robot pets to have a good time.

This look brings together most of my favourite faux fur bits and pieces, and includes plastic 2013 New Years glasses from whatever I did that year, Demonia shoes that were purchased at a garage sale, hat was a gift from my mom, and lips are done with a bit of dried up face paint.
