Market days might look like a one-person business, but they really do take a little village...
There are the Heavy Lifters — inspired by the amazing crew at Long Jetty Markets. While we lug one stall in and out, these absolute gems spend hours helping dozens of us with heavy gear at bump-in, then do it all over again at bump-out.
Then there’s the Roped-In Crew — husbands, partners, family and friends doing early mornings, lifting and lunch runs. The husband I borrow, who knows exactly how I like my bacon and egg roll.
The Behind-the-Scenes Crew — organisers and volunteers doing all the things most of us never even see… and honestly, probably don’t want to!
Our Market Mates — people you’ve never met who somehow become instant friends. The ones who hold your gazebo, watch your stall for a toilet break and just get it.
And then there’s the one who is always there with a zip tie when I need one, positivity, encouragement and somehow makes the hard market days a little better.
