YAY!!!! It’s September…. My fave month! I feel like I come out of my winter hibernation (albeit a very mild winter this year in Brisbane), put away the woolly jumpers and get out the LOUD summer dresses šŸ‘—!

It somehow feels easier to be light-hearted and joyful!

So in honour of that, here is a fun pic from 1988. We attended a fancy dress ball with the theme of ā€œThe Governor’s Ballā€. I hacked up my wedding dress to make a costume and found myself a tiara, a fan and some lacy gloves!!

So, with my enthusiasm and passion for colour in full throttle… watch out! We have some fun things on the horizon!

Happy September to you!

Revisiting these stunning shades we made for a little girl’s bedroom several years ago. Designed by CARLENE DUFFY with fabric supplied by Style Rev. these are a fun alternative to traditional shades and bases. The interiors of the shades were lined with the same fabric.

This little project was an ottoman makeover for Suzanne. We replaced an aqua synthetic fabric with a graphic hand-block printed linen. What a difference…. Wishing I had taken a ā€œbeforeā€ photo!! This was an easy transformation for a massive impact.

Romance is alive and well! This is the latest addition to our range of offerings and it is exclusive to us. The Ballerina Shade. 🩰

We have this in two sizes: floor lamp and table lamp. This shade is my sample and I created it using upcycled textiles from The Nest Community | Brisbane charity - the fabric and the vintage trim. There are some vintage grosgrain ribbon at the top was from my stash.

Who’s interested in a workshop. Let me know as I would love to teach you how to make your own.

FOR SHEILA
Boy, did I enjoy this shade makeover! Sheila had some vintage pieces of furniture reupholstered and wanted me to give her vintage lampshade a real ā€œglow-upā€. It was tired, mouldy and torn, and well and truly past its use by date.

We selected the main fabric from my stash and then Sheila was happy to leave the rest of the design up to me. What fun! I opted to replace the lace panels with velvet (again from my stash) and use self bias trims at the top of the shade, reserving the ivory gimp trim for the base of the shade. The 30cm long chainette fringing is the icing on the cake! I adore the new very classy vibe. Here’s to her new shade being her decades of joy!
