Daughters of the Wilds... What are you fighting for?

I fight for autonomy and visibility through my expressive art fabric prints.

This full-circle skirt isn't just something made to wear. It's a declaration. A celebration of taking up space, being seen and telling my own story.

Remember: our bodies, our voices, our rights, our choices.

As the daughter of a tailoring family, sewing was once a means of survival. Today, I honour that legacy differently. I draw to make sense of the world, I sew my own art for joy and I dress as an act of self-expression.

'Daughters of the Wilds' is for anyone learning to trust their instincts, embrace their individuality, and step beyond the expectations placed upon them.

I am a Daughter of the Wilds and you can be too.

NAMASTE.

Nah Must Stay.

For those told to go back where they came from.
For the children who deserve to grow up knowing they belong.
For migrant families who built lives, communities and futures here.

A reminder that belonging isn't something to be earned from fear or taken away by politics.

We're staying, mate.

๐Ÿ’•Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai? ๐Ÿ’•

Not a secret, but a story.

For the LEAF (Logan Eco Action Festival) runway hosted by the , I created a garment that reconnects me with my Indian heritage through the lens of creative reuse.

This piece began as a discarded toran (bandhanwar) โ€”a decorative Indian door hanging traditionally used to welcome guests and invite blessings into a home on auspicious ocassions.

Rather than letting it sit unused, I transformed it into a vest, carrying its mirror work, elephant embroidery, and symbolism into a new life.

I then personalised it with fabric scraps from my Marigold Collection & Rani of Hearts and a handmade beaded brooch, blending inherited traditions with my own creative practice.

What was once a decoration for a doorway has become a wearable reminder that heritage isn't static. It evolves with us, travels with us and becomes part of who we are.

โœจ This Indian textile is part of my heart now.

๐Ÿ” Current Project: Close-Up

A closer look at the textures, stitches, and treasures finding a new life in my latest upcycled creation for the LEAF (Logan Eco Action Festival) runway, hosted by the Sewing Lair on Sunday June 7th.

๐Ÿ˜ Reclaimed heritage textiles, mirror work, elephant embroidery, Marigold Collection fabric scraps, and sewing essentials sourced from the Sewing Lair are all becoming part of the story.

๐Ÿ‘€ Can you guess what it started as... and what it will turn into?

Before I attended a Saturday workshop at Logan Art Gallery, I struggled with the idea of literally making a mask.

I've worked hard to undo a lifetime of masking and saving face. As a neurodivergent woman, unmasking has been one of the most important parts of my journey, so creating a mask felt contradictory at first.

An in-depth introduction by Dr on the history and many functions of masks shifted my perspective. I began to see this mask not as something that concealed me, but as an opportunity to reveal a part of myself that is often filtered, softened, or overlooked.

In workshop, I created a mask inspired by two Hindu Goddesses: Durga Ma and Kali. Through bold colours, textures and embellishments, I explored fierceness, wit, protection, transformation and power.

The Flying Fox Project by has been transformative. It has given me space to express that I am more than a "colourful and cosy scrunchie girl"โ€”a recent comment made by a cis male. My response, "I'm more than a scrunchie girl," slipped out without hesitation, regret, or second-guessing.

What I appreciate most is the duality of it all.

I can be soft and fierce.
Playful and serious.
Gentle and powerful.

Two seemingly opposing ideas can exist at the same time.

I think that's true not only for neurodivergent people, but for all of us. We move through life carrying multiple truths, emotions, identities, and experiences at once.

We are not singular.

We are multitudes.

Earth Day is everyday ๐ŸŒ

Repair. Mend. Reuse. Upcycle. Repeat.

This is my daily practice โ€” turning offcuts into something beautiful and choosing slow, intentional fashion over trends.

Small choices. Worn often. Made to last.

Whatโ€™s one piece you can repair or rewear this week?

My prints, plus a treasure trove of off-cuts from the Sewing Lairโ€ฆ ribbons, lace, textures and unexpected combos.

If you were making your rebel rosetteโ€ฆ
โœจ What would you choose?
Bold Audhd prints?
Soft vintage prints?
Layers of ribbons?
Something totally unexpected?

Tell me in the comments โ€” I might pull your combo at the workshop on Sunday the 12th of April ๐Ÿ‘€
