Hi everyone,
First of all i would like to give a huge thank you to each and every person that has sent there love, prayers and support, offered there time and help. We as a family are truely blessed to have so many amazing people in our lives. This week has by far been the most scariest time we have had to ever endure but we never lost hope. We have and will continue to stay strong for our Kana 🤍
For those of you who don't know Kana, he is the most cheeky, funny and loving person with the kindest heart. Some people may know him from his extreme athletic abilities, this kid could play any sport and seem like he had played it for years. He played league for 12 years and represented many teams, he was really good. Others know him for how lovable he is. Doesn't matter who you are or where you come from, he was always willing to listen. This boy, im telling you adopted about 3 to 4 different families, to the point where we ended up with about 8 extra siblings 😂 He then moved back to NZ along with our mum July of 2019 and started his new life back there. He is now a roofer and gets to travel all over NZ for work which he loves so much, hes always sending me pictures and videos on top of the roof with his big cheesy smile thinking hes the man. He also started saving to buy a block of land to build a house for our mum and he’s also settled into a relationship with an amazing young lady who we all love and adore as much as he does.
Now a little back story on what has recently happened.
Tuesday 15th February 2022, my two younger brothers and my sister inlaw ages 21,19 and 22 were involved in a serious car accident in Hawkes Bay, NZ. One brother (Jordan) and my sister in law were released from hospital with minor injuries, thankfully. However my other brother Kana unfortunately took most of the impact and was in very critical condition and needed to be airlifted to the Wellington Regional Hospital. He was said to have multiple head and face fractures, one being on the front left side of his skull causing damage to the frontal lobe of his brain which resulted in him being put into a medically induced coma. During this time he had to undergo brain surgery as he had swelling and bleeding on his brain which needed to be seen to asap. Part of his skull at the front of his head was removed to relieve the pressure,this will stay that way until the doctors give it the all clear. He was in the coma for 3 or 4 consecutive days to help keep him still as this was a very critical time in his healing process. All we could do is wait and hope he would wake up. As of today one week and one day after the accident happened he has progressed massively and we couldn't be anymore grateful to everyone who played a part in keeping him here. He still has an extremely long road to recovery but we will continue to support him and each other and keep strong for our boy kana so he knows just how much we love him.
My mum and both brothers have not been back to work since the accident and i can only imagine how tough it may be for them financially. My mum and sister in law have been by my brothers hospital bedside since Wednesday night last week and my other brother Jordan has been recovering at home. So i have taken it upon myself to do something to help in anyway shape or form.
For this i have decided to reopen VLK Apparel and run a huge sale of 40% off all products. From doing this i will be gathering all profits at the end of each week and sending it back to my family to help out wherever i can. Even if its just to put petrol in there car or to help with any medical bills, pay there rent and just everyday living expenses. I cant be there physically just yet but i can help in other ways.
You always think things like this wont happen to you or your family, it happened to mine 😞 This has been such a huge eye opener to how incredibly grateful i am for everyone in my life. For still having my brothers and sister in law here. Hug your loved ones a little bit tighter, hold your babies a little bit longer and see your parents/grandparents more often because in the blink of an eye your world could all come crashing and that's the scary reality of life that we all seem to forget. As of right now my brother is doing well, progressing each day, some good, some not so good but we are taking each day as it comes. We just cant wait to be there and wrap our arms around him.
