Brendan Eilola Glass Glass practitioner exploring colour, light, and experimental process across casting, fusing/slumping, and digital making.

Glass casting is a complex, labour intensive and expensive process that takes days to produce each piece. This is why there are limited sizes on offer - if your size is not available, please send a message as one could be crafted just for you!

Glass designed, cut, cleaned and stacked ready for fusing into flow-form blanks... the twin 15cm diameter pieces comprise of garnet red, opaline, dark rose brown, rhubarb shift, marzipan and ruby red tint. the large piece - the large 30cm piece is in shades of green (fern, spring, emerald, grass, lemon/lime and lemon) with french vanilla for some reaction interest.

A couple of large fused-glass projects at various stages of completion... at these sizes, they are typically in the kiln a total of 3 times.

Some Glass Art insight...

I cost each piece as I create them. The raw material of an 'inexpensive' palette of coloured glass, as in the blue/green 18mm thick 28cm disc (which is yet to be sandwiched between clear) - costings calculated down to the square cm equates to a whopping $182!

So it'll be pushing $200 just for the materials and power. When you then factor in the labour/time with cutting and multiple iterations of cold-working, you can begin to understand why art glass costs what it does.

I've been working on a new series of deep drop vessels, with a focus on opaque colour on white with black accent stripes. This one got away from me but it's got a cool distortion that appears almost symmetrical.

Sapphire Turquoise Fuchsia Shift — a vertical spectrum that moves from deep ocean blue into electric turquoise and fuchsia interference. Those black structural marks cut through the colour like cooled lava lines, giving the piece a geological backbone. Sunlight hits it and the whole surface lifts.

Chroma Burn - A concentrated colour‑field study where heat, density, and interference collide. The surface reads calm at rest, then ignites under angled light — a controlled chromatic burn held inside a small, sculptural form.
