I'm blown away by how much this 6 year old has grabbed hold of this project. I woke up at 3am the other morning with her wanting me to help her to the toilet, half way down the hall she woke from her zombie state and clear as a bell said 'dad I've got an idea' and passionately described a design for a product. The next day she spent a few hours drawing her ideas. Tonight was her first CEO mentor meeting where we discussed how she would allocate jobs to her siblings and the difficulties she might have and how to over come them. I think the future of this project will actually hang on how she can keep the motivation of the other kids up while getting them to keep the ball rolling with the project. This is the stuff I'm excited about teaching them.

Each month the kids will vote for who will be the CEO for a month. The first meeting though I chose because this cheeky monkey was the most engaged in the meeting asked the most questions and offered up some great suggestions. 2 of her suggestions were based around the idea of helping other people with all the money we will make from the business - without any prompting - I was impressed. Although 10 minutes after the meeting one of her siblings came and said "is she really my boss now do I have to do what she says?" 😂 some training in is required for this one.

It's going to be harder than I thought. But now I've put it out there I have to follow through. I really want to set an example of being a dad that doesn't just talk about his dreams and goals but makes them happen.
I did learn though kids are a tougher board meeting crowed than peers - lesson learned for next time 'create a compelling board meeting environment'

So I'm a dad of 4 amazing kids and I have am starting a business with them ... pretty normal but ... my kids are 6, 8, 11 & 12. It's a project I've been talking about for a while but it has now begun. WHY? Well I've ran small businesses myself and know how helpful the life skills you learn from starting and running a business are. I also know they can't learn some of these things from school so I figure it's my job to help them be the best kids and hopefully one day adults that they can be. NO! I don't want or expect my kids to be entrepreneurs, whatever they choose to do later in life I will encourage and support them as long as they are true to themselves. I'm hoping it's going to be a fun project that one day we can look back on with smiles and laughter and be proud of whatever comes of the project. This is not a marketing tool for the business we create it is purely to document the journey from a fathers point of view. If it someone to do the same then great but most importantly it's about the journey and the legacy
