Jodie's lovely dress we took in down the centre back zip, replacing the zip, upgrading the hook and eye, and side ribbons while we did it.

This mannequin is around a size 8, and this dress was supposed to be a 6, very large for a 6!

Isn't this gowns colours lovely?

And I also got a Singer 401G made in Germany in 1955-1965.

This one has some plastic components, but it was before planned obsoletion, when plastic lasted forever.

It can do decorative stitches as well, but isn't as good at satin stitching as my newer machines.

This machine can do basic zig zag as well as reverse, and I also mostly plan to sew dress hems with it, but can also sew jeans, being similar in strength but not quite as strong as my industrial lockstitch machine. Big benefit being we maybe able to do bartacks, on jeans, but I will have to try if it can.

I also plan to get this machine a walking foot to make it even better 🤞.

And finally after several weeks chatting with a Facebook seller, and getting spare parts from another Facebook seller, I have myself a singer 99k, the slightly younger 1950s edition of my singer 99 (1930s), with one crucial difference, it has a reverse lever. The 99 only sews forwards, so you need to turn whatever you are sewing to do a back tack, or tie off your ends.

I've done a video of before and after spraying the insides over with wd40 to get the joints moving smoothly.

Its case was plastic, and a bit wobbly, so I got another 99 machine missing its motor, but it had the case, and the bobbin housing cover, and the instruction manual, for this machine. It also had a light, which after trial and error I was able to attach to the electrics correctly so it even has a light.

All for around $150.

I plan to use this one, like I've been using the 99, on the end of my cutting table sewing wedding dress hems, for the massive dresses I really need the table to hold.

I'm also looking at ordering a walking foot for it to avoid slippery fabrics moving around under the foot while I'm moving the dresses.

Overlocking the zip gusset seam.

This is as far as I went with videos on these cushions, just to show how the zip was inserted.

Sewing the side gusset to the zip panel.

Continuing the topstitching after my bobbin ran out. Finishing off the zip, and attaching my business label.

Continuing on with inserting the centrelap zipper.

Don't these beautiful velvet seat cushions just look so lux?

They are soft, and the crushed velvet fabric was proper upholstery weight with a nice stable cotton backing.

I insert the zippers in the centre back or bottom seam so they can be flipped, and the round the end design on these made inserting them in their covers much easier than usual.

My first time making velvet seat cushions I think, and with piping, so love the color my client chose.

This dress, was a 'find'!!! My lovely client Sarah found this vintage costume down in a little secondhand shop on the left just before the bridge on your way to the showgrounds.

The quality of the construction and detail is so beautiful.

It was lined in calico, And a silky likely rayon satin, with velvet ribbon over the boning in the bodice. The person who made this was a master seamstress.

It felt like the same vintage as my 1930s sewing machine, but its likely not quite that old.

This dress suited my clients personality and style perfectly and only needed slight alterations to fit her perfectly.

She wore it to a wedding in November, and I hope many times since. It looks like it was for adventures and had such a cool story to tell.

I cant fully read the tag inside, anyone have any further ideas or info on the production, even the name, and this character?
