Because we have gotten so used to the shorter weeks, we decided we needed another Public Holiday!

Frame Care will be closed on Monday 5th May for the Labour Day Holiday (QLD/NT).

We will be back on the tools at 8am Tuesday 6th May, well rested and ready to fix your glasses! 🤓

Frame Care has offered Ptosis Bars as a modification available for metal frames for 20 years, however, it is only in the last few years that we started fitting them to plastic frames.

This style of Ptosis Bar employs a similar method to the one we use when adding adjustable nose pad arms to frames.

Fully custom made to suit the individual and available for one eye or both.

If you are interested in this frame modification, talk to your local optometrist, who can then arrange for your frames to be sent to us for fitting.

Ptosis Bars - what are they and who might need them? 🧐

Also known as a Ptosis Crutch, they can be useful for people with eyelid/s drooping due to Ptosis, lifting and holding the eyelid in place so vision is not obstructed.

Completely custom made to fit the individual, Frame Care can attach ptosis bars to both metal and plastic frames.

As each one is made to order, and in the case of metal frames, welded to the eyewire, specific measurements are required.

Your local optometrist is the best person to assist you with this, and to help you with final fitting/adjustments once the job is done.

Sometimes, you just want a little more contrast.

These glasses came in with a request for the front of the front of the frame (say that 5 times fast! 🥴) to be painted black.

This type of paint job requires a little extra care and attention (and masking tape!) to complete, but the results are well worth it.

This particular frame was an interesting challenge!

Featuring temples constructed from multiple individual pieces of metal, each finished in a different colour, there was a bit of tagging involved to ensure we kept the pieces in the correct order for reassembly.

This is probably the most separate eye-match colours we have had to prepare for a single frame, ever!

You have to admit, it is very satisfying to be able to bring a dull & faded frame back to its vibrant rainbow glory 🌈

Perhaps you have a frame that is looking a little lacklustre and could do with brightening up?

Not only can we still repair the frame, we can clean up the damage caused by the soldering iron/flame and get your frame looking like it was never burnt
