It’s the last week for the Sassi Seamstress 🥹🥺 so I am busy getting everyones alterations finished, before we roll away the beast of a cutting table.
Here is a little montage of some of the formal dresses that I/we have done over the years.🤓🥰
I love formal season (that isn’t really as season anymore since some schools decided to host the formal in the first part of the year!!! so the students can focus on study. Booooo Boring Schools, that’s not how formal goes!)
Anyway, formal is fun! exciting, the dresses are always gorgeous, colourful, lots of sparkle and it’s just really lovely to be part of a young girls ‘debut’ as a young woman stepping out into the spotlight all dressed up, looking glamorous, like a movie star.
Formal has always been the event of the year, and NOW it’s almost like a miniature wedding, with all the things these day… 💃🏼 💅 Dress, hair, makeup, nails, bag, shoes, car, bow tie for the guys, jewellery, ticket, after party…. it’s a $1000 event just to turn up these days.
Where as back in my day!! lol
Well I made all my dresses, but you just found a dress that fit and that was it. Did your own hair and makeup, or your mum did and caught the bus. No red carpet, decorated venue, no after party. The formal WAS the after party, at the Chinese restaurant, with the teachers, who wanted to come who also PAID to come….and got drunk with us. lol
oh yes, back in the day, when…….?????…… well when so many things were different.
Oh well, times have changed but it’s still one of the most exciting nights for a young woman….
May the formal always be a night to remember 🥰👯♀️💃
