Painful Foot Callus 😖👣 This painful callus has formed under the 5th metatarsal head (the outside ball of the foot), where repeated pressure causes the skin to thicken over time. Today I’m carefully removing the callus to help relieve the pain and get the patient walking comfortably again. For most patients, we repeat this treatment every 8 weeks, as that’s usually the sweet spot before the callus becomes too painful. We also recommend using a 10–40% urea moisturiser every day to soften the skin, slow regrowth, and help reduce cracking. Remember, calluses are a symptom of excessive pressure. While removing them provides relief, it’s also important to identify and reduce the cause of the pressure with the right footwear, orthotics, or other treatment where needed.
