The response to our fundraiser announcement has genuinely moved me.

The messages, the shares, the women reaching out to say they want to be in that room.

This is exactly the community I hoped Akoya would build.

Not the First, Not the Last is on the 10th of October at the Pullman King George Square in Brisbane. Two hundred guests. High tea. Every dollar raised goes toward supporting Mater Chicks in Pink, who support breast cancer patients in practical ways as well as funding vital research.

If you would like to be there a link to tickets are in the first comment or comment TICKET and we will send you the link.

If you cannot come but want to support, I will share more about how you can do that closer to the day.

Thank you for being the kind of community that shows up for something šŸ¤Ž

Can I ask you something honestly?

When was the last time you bought something for yourself, not for the house, not for someone else, not because you needed it. Just because you wanted it and you were allowed?

I ask because the women I talk to have extraordinary taste on behalf of everyone else in their lives. Their families. Their friends. Their homes. And then they get to themselves and they pause.

I built Akoya for that pause. I lived in it long enough to understand it.

You do not need an occasion. You do not need to have earned it. You just need to decide it is your turn.

When did you last do something just for you?

Tell me in the comments.

Get your people together. This one is going to be something you do not want to miss.

On Saturday 10 October, Akoya is hosting Not the First, Not the Last — a Chicks in Pink fundraiser high tea for the Mater Foundation’s breast cancer support and research.

2pm to 5pm at the Pullman King George Square, Brisbane.

Champagne on arrival. Decadent high tea. Live illustrator . Guest speaker panel. Enormous raffle. Luxury silent auction. Best dressed prizes. 200 people. One extraordinary afternoon.

Every dollar raised goes to the Mater Foundation and the fight against breast cancer.

I went through this. I built Akoya from it. And this is how I give something back — with the most incredible room full of humans I can possibly put together.

Tickets are live now — link in the first comment.

Were you there last year? Are you coming this year?

Like, share, tag someone who needs to be in that room šŸ¤

Six months ago I launched Akoya with a lot of hope and absolutely no idea what was coming.

In the reel I shared what I could, the stock arriving, trying retail and walking away from it, the Pay It Forward program gifting 13 women in six months, selling out and reordering twice.

What I didn’t get to mention was the Mater Foundation IWD fun run, showing up with a little stall and meeting some of the most remarkable women. Collaborating on a shoot with WFML and some genuinely incredible vendors. And being written up by Central West Mums, which honestly stopped me in my tracks.

None of this is what I mapped out. All of it is better.

Thank you for being part of the first six months. There’s a lot more coming.

If you're in treatment right now, this is for you.

Not a tip. Not a product pitch. Just something I wish someone had told me when I was in it.

Your skin changes in ways nobody warns you about. The sensitivity. The temperature that won't regulate. The nights where you're too hot, then too cold, then just awake and exhausted and wondering when your body became something you don't recognise.

I built Akoya because I was that woman. And I couldn't find anything beautiful that also understood what my body was going through.

The recovery pocket exists because I needed somewhere safe for my drain while I slept.
The fabric exists because my skin needed something that wouldn't fight it.

You deserve to feel beautiful during this. Not after. During.

Save this for when you need it, or send it to someone who does.

Three days post bilateral mastectomy and she sent me this photo.

This is Mahoney. She received her Akoya set through our Pay It Forward program and that smile is everything.

Pay It Forward wasn’t something we planned. It started because people reached out early on and asked if they could buy a set of pyjamas for a woman they had never meet. Someone going through something hard. I said yes and something quietly began.

In under 6 months, this community has gifted recovery pyjamas to 7 women navigating some of the hardest moments of their lives. Women who would never have asked. Women who deserved softness more than most.

If you’d like to gift a set to a woman who needs one, comment PAY IT FORWARD below and I’ll reach out personally to walk you through how it works.

My body changed, and everything I owned stopped making sense.

The sleepwear I’d had for years wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t built for this, for the heat, the waking up damp, the skin that suddenly had opinions.

I didn’t know that fabric could be part of the answer. I thought I just had to get used to it.

What I found was rose derived fabric. Temperature responsive. Wicking. Gentle on skin that had become reactive in ways I hadn’t expected.

Luxurious fabric should work for your body, not just look good on the label.

If you’re navigating the same kind of shift and your sleepwear isn’t keeping up, this is worth knowing about.

Comment ROSE and we will post you a fabric swatch.

We don’t share reviews often, but when we do, it’s because they stop us in our tracks.

Jaz wore her Akoya set through the first weeks after her bilateral mastectomy. She needed something she could get on and off easily when her body was sore and tight. Something comfortable enough to live in. Something with a pocket for her drains.

She found all of that here.

ā€œWould definitely recommend to anyone going through similar surgeries, particularly if you have drains to drag around with you!ā€

That’s the whole reason Akoya exists. For the moments when comfort isn’t a luxury, it’s what gets you through the day.

Thank you for trusting us with that, Jaz. šŸ¤Ž

If you know someone facing surgery, or walking through recovery right now, feel free to share this or send them our way. Sometimes the smallest things make the biggest difference.

šŸ‘‰ Shop via the link in bio or drop RECOVERY in the comments and we’ll send you the details directly.

Something I wish someone had told me years earlier.

I spent so long assuming I was just a difficult sleeper. That the waking in the night, the restlessness, the being too hot and then too cold, that was just me.

What I know now: it wasn't me at all. It was my body managing something real. Hormonal changes that mess with temperature regulation in ways most women are never told about.

And the fabric I was sleeping in was making it worse. Not in a dramatic way. Just quietly, every single night, working against my body instead of with it.

Akoya is built with this knowledge and this is a major factor in how we select our fabrics.

If this sounds like your nights, tell me in the comments. I read every one.

I’ve been working on this behind the scenes for a while, and I’m really glad to finally be sharing it.

From today, Akoya has new permanent pricing, lower across both the Comfort and Luxe Collections.

This came off the back of some real work on how we operate. Removing wholesale, having honest conversations with our suppliers, tightening up how we do things end to end. The result is savings I can pass straight to you without changing a single thing about the product you love.

And if you’re part of the Inner Circle, check your inbox there was a little extra treat waiting for you last night. 😊
