On this Good Friday we remember that God so loved the world that He gave His one and only begotten Son (Jesus) to die on the cross for our sins so that whoever believes in that finished will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
Jesus took the punishment for us so that we would not have to suffer the wages of sin.
As you ponder the meaning of "Good Friday" think about Jesus being nailed on the cross, whipped and shamed, dripping with blood yet not even a whimper. Think about the absolute physical pain from the crucifixion and the spiritual burden of the weight of all mankind's sin.
Then realise that Jesus did all that for YOU.
Yes, YOU.
That is the Good News of the Gospel.
You don't work your way up to Heaven, God reaches down and offers it to you as a gift of grace.
If you Repent of your sins, ask for God's forgiveness and then accept what Jesus did for you than you will be saved.
There is no other way to Heaven but through Jesus Christ and accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour. It is by Faith that you are saved, not by works lest anyone should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
The Holy Spirit gave me this song 2 days after attending a Terry MacAlmon event. - The Lord's gift to me. May this minister to you as you prepare for Communion.
