Something unusual from my usual tanning, this red heeler was gifted to me after the owner had to make the tough decision to euthanise due to behavioural issues regarding an extremely strong prey drive.

I’ve had a fair few skulls coming through for horn mounting, when a customer requests just a horn mount ( horns with wrapped middle mounted on a board) it’s always a shame to not use a beautiful skull like this.
As a added bonus for this customer I chose to further work on the skull, this will now return to her to be displayed as she wants, a great option is to wrap the horn area with a fine gauge barb wire, as a outside display the barb creates a striking feature. These also look amazing with solar fairy lights wrapped in the same manner.

Don’t disregard your hair breed sheep as rug options, they might not have the fluffy wool of traditional sheepskins but they still make excellent statement pieces.

It’s been a hot minute with life but it’s back to full action, much appreciation to my customers for your patience.
A huge batch of hides has come in which meant a good freezer sort out.
This round is sheep and goats for Brenda, in the tub and starting the pickling process.
Rachael is next in the line up for some weekend taxidermy work on her skunk and raccoon, time pending they should be ready to head out next week.
I’ll have two of my very earliest soft mount available for a very reduced rate ( they do have flaws as I was learning) so watch this space for their listing.
Enjoy the sunrise, taken today as the day got off to a very early start.

Tanning season is off to a flying start with 2 goats, and 4 sheep prepped and starting the tanning process. It’s always so fantastic to see that these unique hides don’t go to waste. The hides are a by product of meat production and will have a purpose beyond being thrown in the ‘pit’
Once these complete their 14 days of pickle and tan the next round of hides will be started.

It’s been a hot minute but we are finally settled on the new house and ready to rock n roll!
There’s a backlog of tanning to get through before I’m ready for more fresh hides but I’m happy to store salted hides and add them to the wait list.
As I unpack the shipping container I’ll have some great deals on ready made items and some taxidermy.
Thanks to all for hanging in there.
