Rips are an experienced surfers best friend, but they can also be scary if they catch you off guard.

Remember to keep an eye out for deeper, darker, calmer water or a break in the waves 🧐📚

Escaping a rip? Keep calm, paddle sideways with the current, then ride the waves back to shore 🏄‍♀️🌊

Always surf between the flags when possible, and stay within comfortable depths when learning 🚩

Surfing can provide a lifetime of adventures, however it's important to know the conditions and your personal limits before hitting the waves.

Make sure you or your little one starts small. Help them understand things like rips and swell, and to listen to their body so they surf within their capacity.

This is why we say "Always surf with a mate!" They can help be a lookout and keep you safe.

However once you find a swell that's right for you...
