Every custom gown begins with a story.

When Harmonie came to me, she had a favourite dress she loved wearing — a piece that made her feel confident, comfortable and completely herself. Rather than starting with trends, we started there.

Together, we explored what she loved about that silhouette and reimagined it as an elevated bridal design, creating a gown that felt unmistakably like her while embracing the occasion of her wedding day.

From shaping the internal structure and hand-building the bodice to refining every seam and detail, each element was created specifically for Harmonie and her unique vision.

Seeing a design evolve from an idea, to a toile, to a finished gown, and finally worn by the bride it was created for, is one of the most rewarding parts of couture bridal design.

Six weeks ago, this gown was only an idea.

A sketchbook thought. A length of silk satin. A vision inspired by the landscape surrounding an upcoming editorial shoot in Albury, New South Wales.

As the design evolved, I found myself drawn to the movement of the nearby Murray River—the way water folds, gathers and flows effortlessly around the landscape. Those same luxurious folds began to emerge in silk, wrapping softly across the bodice and falling into fluid draping through the skirt.

Every couture gown begins with a conversation between fabric and form. Hours of draping, pinning, sculpting and refining before a single final seam is sewn

This is an early glimpse of what may become The Murray.

A study in fluidity, movement and modern romance.
