Well yes,I always knew the shop would be well received by shoppers and designers,but its always a pleasant surprise when things go according to plan. I do think I was in the right place at the right time. That wasn't an accident as I had looked at the marke
t and what people wanted when I launched. I thought I could help independent brands and young brands and the time I started was proven perfect for that. Do you have plans to open any more sos boutiques? Yes I do, I have actually just this week launched our new promotion where you have the ability to buy stock from a number of designers and brands that we have in store. We have three price structures depending on your location and needs.In the future we do plan to open more boutiques initially in NSW and hopefully eventually national.We are also thinking of taking the best of Australian designers abroad which would be fantastic. Before opening a new boutique what do you intend? I always hoped to be a destination of location, such as soho,new york where people travel from around the world to come and find something that they can't find locally in other stores.Obviously when starting no one knows about you (only by reputation or editorial) so I rely upon the local customer base which fortunately for us is really encouraging and supportive, which continues to remain a large and significant part of the sales. This is what we want the boutiques know as - a destination store. Did you always intend to open a boutique in Darlinhurst? No, I always thought Sydney CBD would be good. And then I looked at Paddington but in the end I thought Darlinghurst was the most wonderful location. I knew the area was good for shopping but I felt that I could make it more interesting and also bringing something a little more fun.People around this area are sophisticated in their taste and do want less well known brands and thats what we a giving them.Darlinghurst and Surry Hills have always been known for its independent designers. Would you say your boutique is a platform to showcase the new talents of fashion? I think any business needs to look at where the new blood is coming from.Thats what makes the business interesting - always evolving.There is always the next exicting thing ready to be discovered.New brands are just as critical to our industry.So far it seems to be working well because our customers want it. From a business point of view I felt that the market was in a very bad way and designers had no real opportunity to get out there,even if they were extremely talented.So I felt there was an opportunity to create that. If you haven’t heard of the SOS boutique you must be living under a rock Named one of Australia's best boutiques the shop is bright and pristine,filled with an artistic vibe. Filled with Australian independant sportswear and swimwear ranging from cotton,nylon,lycra and spandex - some of the brands showcased are WILLIAM - S, BLACKPOOL and also the SOS brand just to name a few.
