Hi I'm Rebecca Clark
I’ve been a midwife for 17 years and a nurse for several years before that. I’ve studied prenatal yoga, vinyasa yoga, baby massage and neurolinguistics
My journey into sleep training came after my second daughter never slept a night without our assistance to go back to sleep - at 12 months, she was waking up to 5 times a night and taking up to 2 hours to resettle. It was affec
ting the whole family, especially my partner who was working from home full time through the pandemic with a baby and toddler - we all needed more than 4 hours of broken sleep to survive, let alone thrive! After resisting the pleas to get help from an outside source (because hey, I was a midwife and therefore surely knew all the tricks in the book), I finally agreed at 13 months. Within 4 days of trying a combination of a structured routine and some sleep techniques, we all slept through the night. It was utter bliss and we were all the better for it - our daughter was happier, more alert and less irritable and my partner and I could start to think straight again. We didn’t realise quite how bad it was until we were no longer sleep deprived. We were able to fill our cups again to be able to be better parents to our girls, and better partners to each other, instead of consistently running on coffee! My experience made me want to help other families to find their ‘bliss’, to thrive instead of merely survive and hopefully impart some knowledge and skills that will benefit the whole family for many years to come. I am currently the Childbirth Education Facilitator and co-ordinator at the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children a few days a week and am the National Secretary of CAPEA - Childbirth and Parenting Educators of Australia Inc. I am beyond blessed to have two strong, clever, outgoing, curious and funny daughters (4 and 2yrs), a partner who both encourages and expects me to challenge myself to be the best version of me and who has navigated life with me for over 20 years, a big fluffy dog called Sunshine, a cheeky cat called Twilight and two fickle laying chickens! We live in Canberra but with the click of a button I am fortunate enough to be able to connect with families and support them all over the world! The face to face consults are however limited to the ACT and border towns - it’s a bit far to fly to the UK for a sleep consultation! 😉
