Did you know that abalone in New Zealand produce the most amazing pearls?
It's surprising since our Australian ones only produce white colors but in NZ they can be bright shades of blues and greens
These 'mabe' of blister pearls are rare and very difficult to produce! They differ from the 'Paua' shell that features in lots of jewellery and is relatively cheap compared to these pearls. Each abalone can only produce one pearl and it takes years
