Bonnie + Thomas, this one was always going to be special 💕

A beautiful process that spanned several months, we worked together to create a stunning silk set, perfect for a summer’s afternoon wedding in the picturesque Mitta Valley, in Victoria’s northeast.

A heavy weight full circle silk skirt with train and the softest layered silk kimono-inspired backless blouse with sleeve trim, was the result of many catch-ups, stories shared, late nights, lots of laughs and an incredibly enjoyable and special process.

For the gorgeous Bonnie, fiancé’ of an old school friend, and my first gown since the arrival of our daughter, Maeve, I couldn’t of asked to work with a bride more patient, down to earth and as gracious as her. And whilst I’m proud of them all, this gown felt somewhat of new beginnings and a reminder of the labour of love these custom keepsakes are ✨✨

we’re back! .. this time with a precious little helper in tow 💕

it’s been a year and a half between posts, longer since my last wedding gown, and here we are — now (excitingly) working on something special for a gorgeous summer bride after a small and beautiful hiatus to welcome our daughter.

in recent months i’ve scrolled through this account and actually took a moment to appreciate these art pieces and the lovely women i got to work alongside. in the doing it can sometimes feel a blur, but it was a lovely trip down memory lane and reminder of what used to be, and what i’m feeling ready for again —

the creativity, the soft fabrics, processes and visions, intricate details; brides that become friends.

very special frames from the talented from what feels an age ago, with my happy 4mo (at the time) mini-me. and gorgeous blooms by the equally clever from a funfilled morning collaborating on a bridal shoot. which reminds me, i never did post those pics — for another time.

so, just popping up to say ‘hello — it’s nice to be here’ x

another wednesday, another (long) post + a shoutout to the very lovely others’ in the industry that become friends ☺️

for this post, the designers, couturiers, dressmakers, stylists, the calm (mostly 🙃), ‘wearers of many hats’ (always) that are the business owners + the talented hands behind the many beautiful gowns..

there is much that goes on ‘behind the seams’ in creating unique + custom pieces, and it’s so nice when there are others who understand. who share the quietness that is working on your own + the late nights, are the sounding board/s when you’ve sewn the zip in wrong for the second time (it happens), who have the supplies you don’t when you need them most + are the welcomed wisdom you can learn from 👏

albury + surrounds may be a small place, but it’s heart is kind + there are some very clever cats within ❤️

i had the most lovely + refreshing chat with a lady today about the appreciation for well crafted, handmade garments — the slow kind, that people invest in, which they take care of + get to enjoy for many wears, for years to come.

these are the conversations i have all kinds of hours for, for the enjoyment that is, locally made, hand crafted, with skill + patience, at a pace + in a manner that doesn’t hurt the world ❤️

she was surprised i sewed. not so much that i could, more so that i had an interest in it, given my seemingly youthful appearance perhaps 😉 — a bit like the skill could be void in this throw away world, though how nice that it’s not all the same..

we spoke about the momentum building for slow fashion + and consumers’ increasing conscience for wanting to understand who made their clothes, where, in what conditions and the hours required, which came back to the investment of a single piece, what is realistic + how do you fairly price something + gain others’ respect (+ support) for that piece.. afterall, time is precious.

ahhh, so many questions!! a chicken and egg scenario in some regard.

we got to, people will choose to invest in where they see the value lies. and for the moral of this story, if that’s in unique, skilfully crafted + handmade pieces that hold a story, custom made to and for the consumer, then I’m here for that 👌

though busy behind the scenes + so ad hoc on socials.. rightfully so, it’s taken a little while to reach this milestone, though nonetheless, i’m going to celebrate the win 👏

very appreciative of my beautiful clients who go all in + trust me to deliver unique + custom pieces for their big days. it’s such an intimate process that spans months.. lots of chats, fittings + laughter along the way, nothing short of lots of hours + late nights, though such a joy all the same.

and those who start as clients, finish as friends — i’m incredibly grateful for that.

a moment for A + M on the beautiful grounds of ❤️

rounding out my last gown of ‘22, this bride was a joy (they all are ☺️), the 2-piece gown equally so — sustainably inclined from the get-go (big tick, rhyme not intended), using 100% recycled fabrics to achieve a lovely silk hand feel.

they called in their friends as vendors ( ~ photos, stunning), (grace miller ~ florals) — perfect.

weddings that are intimate, in stunning locations, with our environmental footprint in mind — always here for this!

cheers to the weekend, and to all the gorgeous women (+ vendors) i’ve had the pleasure of working with this year, it’s been nothing short of amazing! thank you 🤍🤍

final outfit of ‘22 was delivered yesterday + i’m like a kid in a lolly shop busting to see pics of her special day 👏👏— talk about a deadline, and the most beautiful + patient of brides 😘

this year, i’ve delivered 6 special pieces — phew! each a joy, and the women, equally so 🤍🤍
