Oh we just adore Lilli Lilli. Another gorgeous dress using our Iconic confetti fabric. This fabric is available now until the 18th of October preorders close. Lillie’s words about her post ~ Lilli Ok, so l’ve made three different iterations of this dress (the Cuff dress in linen, the cuff dress in viscose, and now the Canyon dress in cotton-linen) and I think I’m getting closer and closer to the Perfect Doops Designs Confetti Print Dress.
My first take of the Canyon Dress from Friday Pattern Company was the long-sleeved version, and I was a bit on the fence about the puffed shoulders on the long sleeves. For this version I actually cut unpuffed versions (following In the Folds Sewing Patterns’s helpful tutorial) but when time came to sew I decided to just... TRY the puffed shoulders with the short sleeve, and surprise! I much prefer it!
This is such a fun and comfortable pattern, and it lends itself well to the weight and drape of Doops Designs’ cotton-linen blend. The busyness of the print does mean that some of the details of the pattern - the tiered skirt, yoke feature, gathers at the bust - are somewhat disguised, but the overall design is pretty sublime.
I wore it all day to E’s school fete, and it was hot and crowded and a bit of a sensory overload, but the dress was so easy to wear (elastic waist!
Pockets! High neckline that stopped the back of my neck getting sunburnt!) that I was physically comfortable all day. The details:
