It's that time of the year again.
A little bit of fun in-between the next outdoor sculpture project.
This little devil is being donated to the RSPCA op shop in Frentree Gully Village. It will be incorporated in their annual Halloween display.

Now that the garden table has been delivered to its new home, I thought I would share some of the process photos. From making of the clay flowers to placement. This table took me almost 5 months to complete. Here is why. ☺️
The mosaics I make rarely get finished without, rearranging the design multipletimes, pulling up glued down tiles, re cutting tiles into a better shape, running out of the right colours, breaking a perfect shaped piece of glass I've spent and age shaping, going through a full box of banaids and running back to the thrift shops, searching for the perfect plate to cut feathers from.
But I love every bit of the process as much as the final result. ❤️

The Rotating Head of Franz Kafka

Our first day wandering the streets of Prague.
We have found the incredible sculpture of Franz Kafka, by the artist David Cerny.

It is an 11-meter tall kinetic sculpture made of 42 independently rotating stainless steel layers that briefly align to form his face.
The constantly shifting, breaking metal tiers represent the tormented, fragmented nature of Kafka's mind and his psychological struggles with identity. It also reflects the absurdity of modern bureaucracy, mirroring a person trapped as a "cog" in a mechanical and impersonal machine.

Iceland 🇮🇸
I love a church.
This is the beautiful Black Church, Búðir. Painted entirely in black with white window trim, the church stands out vividly against green moss, dark volcanic rock, and distant glaciers.
The wood is coated in black pitch, similar to the hull of a boat to protect the structure from harsh coastal weather.
Located in the tiny hamlet of Búðir on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, it sits in near isolation amidst the wild Búðahraun lava field.
Its surreal and photogenic look makes it one of the most photographed landmarks in the country.
We were super lucky to be there as the rain was lifting, giving us a beautiful rainbow across the background.
While the current building dates to 1848 (reconstructed later in the 20th century), a church has stood on this sacred site since 1703.

One of my favourite commissions so far. An outdoor table adorned with the garden plants and some of the birds that visit Rosey’s yard.

Tiled with hand-cut glass, salvaged crockery, and handmade ceramic flowers and petals.

This started life as a mosaic table, but after it was damaged, Frida was carefully salvaged and given a new life as a wall hanging. Hand-cut mosaic tiles, rescued and now hanging proudly on our wall.

On my workbench.
I haven't posted much over the last few months as I've been working on a large commission. The finished piece will be posted once the new owner has received it.
Many hours have been spent on hand making ceramic flowers and leaves and extensive cutting of tiles and crockery.
I am on the homestretch now so hang around for the grand unveiling. 🐦
