The Signet Bureau Women's clothing store featuring bespoke garment, shoes and accessories from Melbourne based designer

The Signet Bureau is a collaborative project facilitated by Melbourne fashion designer Maureen Sohn and business partner, Neil Christensen. Appearing as a retail gallery space for clothing, shoes & accessories rather than a "shop", the space is composed of a network of fine steel trusses - one hook for each clothing garment - that provide the framework for the display as well as an interactive space for clientèle. Also featuring collections from Melbourne/Collingwood based brand MM Söhn, Japanese brand, Moyuru, German brand, Studio Rundholz and New Zealand's iconic NOM*d brand. We’ve never believed a necklace should simply finish an outfit.

With Flew Designs, it becomes part of the story.

There’s nothing quiet about a good stripe.

Whether sharp and graphic, oversized and relaxed, broken, distorted or layered — stripes have a way of changing the entire rhythm of an outfit.

Sometimes, all it takes is a different silhouette to make everything else in your wardrobe feel brand new.

EVERYTHING BEGINS IN WHITE.

One of the things we love about Privatsachen is that the story of each garment starts long before it reaches the rail.

In their Hamburg atelier, every piece takes shape by hand — designed, cut, sewn and carefully finished, right down to the smallest details. Button by button. Seam by seam.

And then comes the colour.

Only when the garment is complete does it enter the garment-dyeing process, where colour is introduced by hand and the finished piece begins to develop its own distinctive character.

It’s a very different way of thinking about clothing.

The colour isn't chosen first and then applied to a finished idea. The garment comes first — its shape, its fabric, its movement and all those little details — and the colour becomes the final layer of its personality.

We also love that the Hamburg atelier creates one-of-a-kind lines specifically for their own shop. Pieces that exist outside the regular collection, with the same obsessive attention to detail and that unmistakable Privatsachen sensibility.

This is what makes Privatsachen so special to us.

Clothing with a process.

A LITTLE MM SÖHN IN THE WILD.

There’s a particular moment in a shoot when the clothes stop being the collection and start becoming someone’s wardrobe.

That’s what we love about MM Söhn.

A sleeve gets pushed up. A jacket gets worn differently. A silhouette changes completely with one small adjustment. Suddenly the piece has a personality of its own.

Our SS26|27 shoot was full of those moments — the ones that happen naturally between the planned shots and usually end up being the images we love most.

A few glimpses from the day, before everything was edited, polished and perfectly in place.

Just MM Söhn doing what MM Söhn does best.

LOOK 01 — BLACK GINGHAM, NO RULES. 🖤

A little gingham, a little attitude, and absolutely no interest in playing it safe.

The Privatsachen Minimalig Short Jacket meets the MM Söhn Aspect Skirt in black gingham — a clash of considered design and playful pattern that just works. Add the drama of a head-to-toe check moment and suddenly, classic gingham has a whole new personality.

Not your average matching set. More Gertrude Street after dark. 😉

LOOK 02 — BLACK | GREY STRIPE, OFF SCRIPT. 🩶

Same attitude, different rhythm.

The Privatsachen Minimalig Short Jacket paired with the MM Söhn Aspect Skirt in Black | Grey Stripe is all about graphic lines, unexpected proportions and a little beautiful disruption. Monochrome, but never mundane. A study in texture, shape and the art of not doing the obvious.

A DAY IN THE STUDIO.

Somewhere between the first rack arriving and the last shot of the day, SS26|27 starts to take shape.

Studio Rundholz. Sanctamuerte. Moyuru. La Vaca Loca.

Different worlds, different attitudes — all sharing the same space for a day of dressing, styling, shooting and seeing what happens when the pieces are taken off the hanger and put into context.

There were strong looks, unexpected combinations, plenty of outfit changes and a few moments that weren’t quite planned but ended up being our favourites.

The finished images might look effortless.

The reality involves a lot more clothes on the floor.

FORM / DISTORTION

Print breaks the surface.

The MOYURU Scatter Print Tapered Pant moves in fragments — an irregular pattern contained within a narrowing silhouette, creating tension between disorder and restraint.

Above it, the MM SÖHN Graduated Cardi Coat alters the proportions again. Length shifts. Lines descend. The body becomes part of the composition.

Print against quiet form.
Softness against structure.
Volume interrupted by taper.
