HERITAGE IN COBURG
Internally, the original home has been reimagined through a refined period-inspired approach. Soft curves and a rich material palette of marble, ceramic tiles and brass fixtures create interiors that feel both stately and contemporary. A series of skylights draw natural light deep into both private and public spaces, washing over plaster, walnut and travertine surfaces to create a unified and enduringly warm material palette.

Commencing as a worker’s cottage, Host House evolves through an incremental design process to accommodate a growing family. A dialogue between existing white forms and new black elements is expressed through a strong vertical rhythm across the project.

Splinter Society has recently completed a new concrete residence in Hawthorn, where a curved, double skinned and insulated concrete facade provides a strong sculptural form. Located within an industrial building in Glen Iris, the Deeds Brewing Taproom immerses patrons in the craft beer production process through an elevated hospitality experience. The fit-out is enriched by theatrical lighting and circular forms inspired by the brewing process, reinforcing the bar as the central focus of the space.

Built in 1922 and recognised by its rooftop sign on Richmond Hill, the former Pelaco factory was originally purpose-built for garment manufacturing, including its iconic pinstripe shirt. Splinter Society Architecture is currently working with the buildings’ owners to redo all the common spaces in a large project that links the 3 buildings on site, adds a high quality hospitality offering and rebrands this large creative commercial precinct in Richmond.

HERITAGE IN COBURG
Located along one of Coburg’s distinguished boulevards of heritage estates, this residential project is now nearing construction completion and moving toward handover.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The project began with the careful restoration of a Victorian residence, re-establishing the defining qualities of the original home, including red brick façades, a steeply pitched red clay tile roof, ornate lattice detailing and period windows. These heritage elements have been restored with a restrained contemporary sensibility and complemented by sympathetic landscaping and site works.
