Last weekend at Millie's Vintage Fremantle, I noticed quite a few dad's out with the kids by themselves in the July school holidays. It impressed me. Not because they didn't have a partner, but that they were on their own because they seemed to choose taking their kids out by themselves, were engaging, & all having fun! Well, I had some great chats with a few of these dads but 3 of them really stood out.

One dad bought five 1984 Masters of the Universe He-man figures, plus a horse & a panther. He had them as a kid, so he was buying them to go home with his 11 year old & teach him how to play the game together. I could see he was really excited, & I thought that that was so cool for his son to have that memory with his dad. He seemed the sort of dad that would share a lot of inspirational memories for his son.

The 2nd dad I remember, was advising his 9yr old son about what Star Wars to collect & chose R2-D2 & a 31 inch animated storm trooper. When I asked the dad did his son know the Stormtrooper spoke 15 phrases, he replied, quietly that he didn't want his son to know coz he wanted to surprise him when they got home. You can guess the rest!

I also loved a dad who came in with his son & they were chatting quite a bit over stuff they were looking at. Dad was giving his son a bit of a history lesson on the toys. So sweet. They both had yellow jackets on. When they walked out I couldn't help ask if I could take a snap of them. They were happy to oblige. 🐺

Good weekend. Loved the dads.
