This is without a doubt the CUTEST hat block I’ve ever seen! 🎈🐶

I’ve been wanting to create a balloon dog headpiece for a while now, so I commissioned Darryll Osborne from Darryll Osborne to bring my idea to life in wood.

So proud of my son Kai whose self-published book, The Farmer’s Wife and Her Fancy Hats — written and illustrated by Kai, inspired by his milliner Mum — was selected for Top Designs 2026 for the Year 12 Media subject.

A little left of centre from my usual spring racing hat designs… but still very much hat related! Clearly growing up with a mad hatter mum and a house full of hats has had a strong influence on his creativity. Kai attended and it’s incredibly special seeing his work exhibited at the museum.

Out of office for the next three weeks! Follow along in my stories for plenty of 50th birthday celebrations with my besties, then it’s straight into a week of creative magic at our 'Bali Millinery Retreat' with a lucky group of eight wonderful women.

Think shopping, supplies, beads, fabrics, a cooking class, beach dinners, massages… and so much more ✨
