There’s something so much fun about creating a piece that isn’t entirely about the races… just because you can.

This Jeff Koons-inspired balloon dog headpiece was one of those pieces — playful, sculptural and a little bit unexpected. 🐩🎈

I loved making it, and I’m even happier knowing it’s now off to its new home. ❤️

Sometimes millinery is about the racing fashion… and sometimes it’s simply about making something that makes you smile.

So proud of my son Kai whose self-published book, The Farmer’s Wife and Her Fancy Hats — written and illustrated by Kai, inspired by his milliner Mum — was selected for Top Designs 2026 for the Year 12 Media subject.

A little left of centre from my usual spring racing hat designs… but still very much hat related! Clearly growing up with a mad hatter mum and a house full of hats has had a strong influence on his creativity. Kai attended and it’s incredibly special seeing his work exhibited at the museum.
