Before the lights, before the runway, before stepping into the boldness of VALOR our models gathered for something equally powerful: a real conversation about mental health.

We brought in Rhys Smith (community engagement officer) from an organisation dedicated to supporting young people’s mental wellbeing through accessible, evidence-based digital tools and community care. Headspace creates safe spaces for open dialogue around mental health, helping people navigate life’s challenges with confidence and clarity.

This intimate session gave our models the space to breathe, connect, and prepare emotionally for one of the most vulnerable moments of their careers. The impact was undeniable—they walked away grounded, supported, and ready to step into their power on the runway. Because true strength isn’t just about confidence in front of the camera. It’s about knowing you’re held, heard, and supported behind the scenes.

He’s the Director of First Nations Strategy and Partnerships and Head of First Nations Research at the Black Dog Institute, works with the NRL & AFL, and co-founded Sobah — Australia’s first non-alcoholic craft beer company (which supported this festival and hosted Valor in 2023).

We are so proud to have brought this model Masterclass to life over and over again.

The layers just keep getting better and better and hearts keep getting bigger and bigger

Day 1: Industry Mastery and Runway Mastery

From valuable industry insights to the exhilarating runway drills that elevated everyone’s skills, this will be a weekend to remember for sure.

As founders, we combined 50+ years of fashion education, show production and modelling experience and as we teach and grow the business we are able to factor in human behaviour, trajectory setting and new information retention methods.

Running these masterclasses have been a joy to us and seeing students learn, make new connections and develop self-trust is everything to us.
