Has your favourite clothing brand become environmentally friendly all of a sudden? Using ‘recycled material’ but not stating the percentage of how much they use?

It’s is said that 60% of sustainability claims by fashion giants are actually green washing! This is the team to describe company’s who use a tactic to appear more eco-friendly & using the buzz around these terms to sell their products (even if they’re not.)

Hello! ☺️👋🏼 My name is Nikita & I am the founder of Treat Yourself Vintage!

I launched TYV early 2019 & I must admit, it was a complete accident! I had a determination to sell my second hand clothing after gaining a slightly unhealthy op shopping addiction during university... 😖

Throwing my old pieces on my bed, un-ironed with a messy background really wasn’t cutting it. Yes, people were purchasing the pieces and interested but there was something missing. I needed to take photos of the clothing so that the buyers would know what my items really looked like & so it felt like they were almost buying new, voiding the negative perspective of second hand clothes, op shops and ‘hand-me-downs’.

TYV came to life when my partner and I found the perfect limestone wall at my university and he snapped the most impeccable photo of a Khaki Hugo Boss vest and since then, we have been determined to make a difference in the world of fashion. 🌏

It is so important to me to give back to others which is why we donate 10% of our proceeds to charity, why we encourage buying second hand to help the earth, and why we use fabric packaging for all orders to avoid using any materials that will end up in landfill. 🤲🏼

We strive to break down the barriers of buying second-hand clothing and encourage people to stop buying fast fashion! Fast fashion has such detrimental effects to our environment and your 'fast fashion hauls' are simply contributing to these practices. 🛑

We would love educate you, support the organizations that are close to your heart and provide you the best secondhand luxury, designers and high end pieces available so stay tuned and remember, we are here when you need us! 🤗

MEET ANNE.

The perfect face and figure for every vintage shoot, Anne’s enthusiasm blew us away! This gorgeous dress was given to me by a very good friend who so kindly passed on this colourful, velvet beauty!

Pask Models have the most outstanding, diverse team who that were an absolute pleasure to work with. All rounders like this ray of sunshine; a singer, model and actor! We are dying to work with you all again 🕺🏼

This piece will be available in our next drop which we believe will be in mid August & we cannot wait to show you a variety of vintage items that we have hiding away for you all 🙈

The props in this shot included a particular item that has some important significance, sentimental to whom I purchased this piece from. Like our boom box, we now hold this piece close to our heart. Can you guess which prop this is? 👀

Our second donation went straight to headspace australia, supporting youths mental health, physical health (including sexual health) alcohol and other drug services, and work and study support.

This is a cause we hold close to our heart as we all struggle with grasping the realities of life at times. 🤲🏼

Take the time to talk to a friend, family member or even a stranger. Ask them how they are, notice warning signs, strike up a conversation, be aware.

I have noted a few important changes to look out for, but please note, this is not limited to the following;

🚩Sudden risk taking behaviour
🚩Eating / Sleeping more or less
🚩Suddenly longer enjoys the same hobbies/sports
🚩Withdrawing from friends / family
🚩Speaking about being a burden to others

No matter who, everyone is going through something in life that you may not be aware of, so it’s important to always be kind and make sure those around you are safe, secure and feeling okay; & it’s okay to not be okay, just know that there is support out there, including .vintage

We can help you head in the right direction & provide you with a few support networks with utmost confidentiality and anonymity. ❤️
